A long weekend

Well Whitstable came and went. Quite strange really. It's a fishing village, a harbour but not much sign of being able to buy fish. We had some oysters and chorizo, some ray, some lobster then bought some lavender from a shop down the high street. Let's get some fresh fish I mused. Some sardines, whack it onto the barbie. One fishmongers with a window full of flies ... er, no thanks. No fish stalls on the sea front .... oh well, let's stop off at Tesco.

It was a relatively easy drive. Just over the hour door to door. Down the A/M2 and Bobs your Uncle. A couple of hours on the beach, I think it's got to be Herne Bay next.

I got to see Sergio Mendes last night. My first visit to a concert at the Barbican, brought about an early DJ set from Giles Peterson, and some great singing from Gracinha Leporace and Dawn Bishop. It was 25 years since Sergio last performed in London, supposedly with Frank Sinatra, so it was a priviledge.

Oh Charlton won at the toolbox. 4-1 was the score, excitement none by all concerned. JFH played a half, whoooosh.

Welling lost to Grays and their new striker lasted 15 minutes.

The weather is still lovely but have you noticed how people have turned. Oh it's too hot, it's too humid, I can't sleep ... blah, blah, blah. It's lovely ... just move on.

My tune of the day: Look of love - Sergio Mendes
