So there you have it, Byron Stingley dressed to impress, doing his best to give us a sound that means so much to many people. Byron Stingley has been at the forfront of "House" for 20 years and his performance on Sunday afternoon was top draw.
The weekender has come and gone, 4 days of drinking, smiling, music, people, laughing, and House. Even Ginge enjoyed himself, now that must be a first.
The funniest thing was speaking to some Scousers on Saturday who thought that Charlton could do them a favour on Sunday and beat UManU meanning theyu could steal second place. I laughed, and said no chance ... it's great to be able to know your team. It appears that Vince may have got thrown out, or even arrested ... not sure of the details. It was also funny being with Clive a Spud and some of the Arsenal boys. Poor old Clive definately put all his eggs in one basket as he was betting people left right and centre. I told him they had no chance, so its great that I can see the Charlton in other teams as well. Poor old Spudz Murphy, ten players out and he can still only get on the bench.
Did I say how good the Weekender was? Kerri Chandler playing in the Sands on Sunday night. How much of a corker was that? The Official After Party missed the boat here ... but they always do.
I was o the train from London Bridge yesterday when I got a text saying we had signed Cory Gibbs from Feyenoord. As a US International, Cory will be reresenting the US in the Soccerball World Cup this Summer. At least that makes it one player Charlton will have in the tournament. Thanks to Sven that is.
I won't even start on the Swedish Meatball with what he's done here. To think that England had a good chance of progressing in the tournament, with Owen and Rooney up the top, but now we are left with Crouch, Joe Cole and Theo Walcott!!!!! Hold on Andy Johnson is on standby, so there may be a glimmer.
I need to eat a few salads. I am actually craving tomatoe and green beans. I ate crisps and rubbish at the weekend!!!!! Have I told you how good the weekender was though?
I can't believe that Darren Bent isn't going to the World Cup. He's on fire, the top English Goalscorer. He's come through the Under 17's, the Under 18's and has played for the Under 21's scoring important goals along the way. So what's the point we ask? Ask the departing meatball?????

Families at war
Families eh ... who'd have them!!!! My bro is moving to France and has finally decided he'd tell me .... when I said it would have been nice to have known earlier he said it was historical. What that means I do not know?
Right ... I hope you all watched the Apprentice last night. What a shower of shit it was. Some complete and utter toss pots, Paul Tulip for one ... then Brummie Ruth who couldnt use the Queeens English if her old grannys life depended on it, forgetable Michelle and the only good guy Ansell, but they had a black bloke win last year so that wasn't going to happen was it. I couldnt get over all the chat about lying on their CV's. That does all seem a bit strange to me.
Zoe Ball on Strictly Pole Dancing ... a non starter to er, start with ... surely?
It seems like Wayne Rooney is out of the World Cup. It's okay though, up steps Peter Crouch.
It's the Southport Weekender should be a hoot.

Page 71
At first I thought it was a joke!!!! But no, it's a small ad tucked away in the bottom right hand corner of todays Daily Mail. Wanted a First Team Manager .... note Manager not Coach.
Is this the way for an established Premiership Football Club to do their business? Would any other club stick an advert like this in a cheap and nasty paper? No of course not. This is the problem. We've been out of the market for 15 years, the days of advertising in the Daily mail have long gone. They should have tried Monster, or City Jobs.
How many dodgy applications do you think this will bring in? 100!!!! 200!!!! I wouldn't like to be Charlton Athletic HR. They'll have to sypht through some right old toot.
News just in .... Glen Hoddle will be staying on as Wolves boss for next year. Phew!!!!!
In was the start of Series 2 of Lost last night. Two hours of stuff I didnt understand. I say 2 hrs, but I fell asleep in the last half hour. I woke up to a repeat of the Sopranos.
I actually voted yesterday. Postal voting means I dont have to traipse to the local school, but who knows what happens to it once it's posted!!!! It could end up anywhere.

The King is dead ... long live the King
Well there you go. You all knowthe news, you all have your views on why, where, when ... and who. But it's been an emotional few days.
I think we knew something was up, when what appeared to be the whole club turned up on the pitch. There was everyone including the tea lady. Someone has pointed out that Tord Grip was even on the pitch, but what that was alla about I don't know. Anyway ...we had been in Legends for Teddys birthday. A carvery, and sticky toffee pudding set the day off to a great start. I would say that I was quite stunned by the announcement. You can understand how it came about though. Curbs wanted one more year, but wouldn't commit beyond that. That left Murray in a no win situation ... and better he gets it right now, than stew on it for a year. As long as he doesnt appoint Twoddle that is. It seems strange that Curbs won't be in charge any more. I'm not going to UManU as I'll be at Southport, but it may be a strange day. I'm not sure how Curbs will feel, emotional no doubt but not as emotional as some of the fans. There were a few lumps in throats, a few tears ... and I don''t care what people say, I couldn't see the point in leaving 10 minutes before the end of the game. What was all that about? Fifteen years and you can't even spend 20 minutes to see him off. Typical of some of the people.
I'm also advocating wearing bow ties to football matches. I had a nice brown number on on Saturday that when nicely with the Sherman shirt and Tacchini tracksuit top. You had to see it. But it surprised even me.
On another note, it made me laugh when Big Phil turned down the England coaches role. Do the press actual seem bothered? I doubt it!!!! But it's funny given that they don't care. Good on Big Phil, he gets a lot of respect from me ...
As for future Charlton managers. I would like to see Stevie Coppel. Just so I could sing bthat song ... the one about his birth certificate.

Cup of tea, slice of cake ....
Big Phil, or not Big Phil. That is the question ... or not, as the case may be. Is anyone really that bothered. Do Aston Villa really want Curbo? That seems strange, but what do I know.
At least the sun is shinning, and the kitchen is nearly done. Just a few doors to be painted, and its a long weekend.
Had a great email this morning from Keeley saying how she had been out with Wendal and ended up in SoSho which was full of vile, letchy, drunk cityites. That's the City for you. A quality night out.
This time next week, I'll be OOOP North. My dancing shoes are at the ready.
It's just dawned on me, its Craig Bellamy, Paul Dikov and Robbie Savage tomorrow. So lots of exciting football then!!!! I'm worried they won't let me in the Carvary with flip-flops on. Well flip-flops and a bow tie.

Big Phil
Hmmm, ho another hmmmm .... a scratch of the head ... a slight chuckle. It seems the FA has sent us all a dummy and will be appointing Luiz Scolari as the next England Coach. A Brazilian, a native Portuguese speaker, no problem communicating with Rooney and Beckham there then. Just ignore them, that's what I'd do. It does seem a little odd though. All along there's been a call for an English (British) manager. There are no stand out candidates, hence your Curbishleys, your Allardyces and your McClarens. But hey, what a kick in the teeth for these guys. Quite rightly picked up by Mark Hughes. What's the top job on offer for an English manager? Well it should be the England Manager/ Coaches position. But this is now off the page. Could you see Brazil, or Italy or Spain appointing a non national? Nope, just us.
The question of the day are why are people so strange? I was out last night on a works doo, a sort of meeting stroke bonding doo with a small pool contest. We had pre booked 2 tables as you would. You then end up with people trying to get on to the table everytime you go to take a drink or just need a pish. You tell them once, you tell them a thousand times, it's booked we are having a competition. But oh no. They moan they bitch ... it's great in the City.
The kitchen nears completion. I'll be sure to stick a few pics up once it is.
Oh and I missed teh Apprentice, and Syed got booted off. I'll just have to remember to watch next Tuesday, or invest in Sky Plus.

Professionals ...
I've just been sent this. It's surprising how crap some footballers actually are. This reminds me of Jeff at his best. Although Jeff would have done it from 30 yards.
Then again you could watch this. It's Ice Hockey, and it doesn't look like much at first glance, but watch it in slow mo ... I hope this is what Graeme will be up to now.
I bumped in to Al McDowall this mroning. It's definately a few years since I saw him, he looks exactly the same.
There were a plethora of wheely bags on the train this morning. It seems people must be going away for the Bank Holiday weekend. I've just realised that the Boat party is usually this weekend. But Orrins put it back to the end of May bank holiday. I could have done with a blow out this weekend.
It's Tedmundos birthday on Saturday and so a meal before the Blackburn game is in hand. It's the last home game of the season, and I would have to say what a season it's been. NOT!!!!

Blogger, blogger, blogger
Well there you go. It's never easy doing this stuff. I tried to load yesterdays up, but couldn't do it until this morning, and now I'm having difficulty loading todays up. It must be all those bloggers, blogging all at once.
I had one of them journeys today. Quite packed, then some muppett kept yawning, but not putting his hand over his mouth. If he breathed out stale air once he did it ten times. It's all about manners. There was the obligatory bag on the inside seat man on the train as well, and he was given a short, sharp reality check when a 20 stoner sat next to him. The look on his face was a picture.
It's May bank holiday on Monday and I'm still wearing a scarf to work. It's damn cold in the mornings. It's been wet as well today, with a dampness in the air. Roll on Southport.
Hopefully the kitchen is in the middle of being decorated. I've only been waiting 3 weeks to get it done. Don't ask your mates to do it!!!! I just hope the turquoise is to my liking.
My tip of the day is try some wild rice ... It's actually quite good.

Run rabbit ...
I only have admiration for the peeps that do the London marathon. I would have to say wild dogs would not drag me round that course. 26 point something miles ... that's why buses were invented. I would say however, that I think a lot of people were stupid in allowing Jade Goody to start and run as far as she did. Then again maybe they had their own agendas.
So the last 10 game syndrome has finally started down at the Valley. Some stupid sods would have paid to go to the Reebok, including Vince no doubt. I was there last season when we got stuffed, so I wasn't going to put myself through that again.
West Ham got to the Cup Final. It just goes to show what you can do with average players, and reiterates what a shower of shite we really are. If Alan Curbishley can be England Manager so can I. The difficulty is deciding that Thomas Myhre is playing badly. He let that freekick in against Boro, threw the ball in against Bolton, give Anderson the last two games. What was the point in playing Perry aginst Bolton? We all know how they play, so we should have played Fortune. There's no point in bleeting about it after the event.
The new Doctor Who!!!!! It's absolute crap. It's not even funny now, and the gay wolf on Saturday was lame in it's entirety.
I've had a day from hell at work today. The realisation that you are dealing with idiots brings it home to you.

Pearls of wisdom
Page three of the Sun .... not just your 18 year old set of large mamaries. Oh no ... this morning we are greeted by the headline "Hal: My hell as a black" It goes on to say how Halle Berry has told how she wanted to be cured of being black when she was a child. She wished a pill could have turned her white. Right then ... where do I start? Who do you think Halle told this little insight to? A Sun reporter? I doubt it. Looking deeper into it, why would a little black gal in the 60's think like that? Not so much as civil unrest as keeping the black man down. They're doing it now with the the local elections. Where are the Panthers when I need to vote?
What a difference a week makes eh??? Viduka and Southgate are out of Boros UEFA Cup Semi tonight. Couldn't have been last week could it.
I'm still bunged up with this Man Cold. I'm still sweating and sniffling.
So I caught some of the Arsenal game. Why comes to mind?
Oh ... I'm attending a research workshop on ebay this evening. How I get myself into this stuff is beyond me. But it looks like 3 hours of talking about Ebay. I think they will require negaitive vibes about the site. Apart from the odd schyster I have to agree with Jammybob about there being too much stuff on there. There's only so many odd socks one man can purchase.

Home alone. I had the day off work today, my first sick day in about 5 years. I knew I was onto a loser when I fell asleep on the 5:54 from Cannon Street last night.
I'm Lemsipped up to the max.
Now I read Jimmineees comment about a summer barbaque and garden clearing party .... now that sounds like a good idea .... watch this space.

Summer cold ...
I'm sitting here shivering, sweating and feeling down right horrid. I've taken Beechams, Lemsip, Nurofen ... but so what. I'm eating fruit but want a curry. Summer colds, not big and not bleedin clever.
I was going on a 3 week fitness frenzy starting today but this cold has put paid to that. TBC will have to wait.
Luckily I didn't venture to Foolham on Saturday. It was a right ol dinddong according to SirJimminnyBibblebob. The Pompey game wasn't much better but at least we won. Isn't that the bee all and end all? With a bit of skilly la thrown in. Oh maybe it's just me then.
I had a lovely afternoon over Tottenham way on Friday. Lunch/ dinner with some friends ... Asparagus Fritatas, Salmon and fennel, Chocolate and Pear tart ... rock on. It's funny the old entertaining malarky .... I should do it a bit more often as well.

Oh well
There it goes for another year. At least I'll have the Cup Final weekend to weed my garden, and not have to traipse up to Brum on a Sunday evening.
It was a bit of a weird day. A 1950's train (although we did get into the VIP big seats on the way up there), Ted and Emilys first Northern away game, a feeble team performance (not surprising) and Kings X as dead as a doodoo at 2:30 in the morning.
With regards to Jonathan Spector, what is the point. He won't get a game for Man U and shouldn't get a game for Charlton. He is what you call in the trade, crap. Without being disrespectfull he doesnt bring anything to the table, he's slow, labourious, tactically inept ... and that's in the warm up.
You know what ...

It's a long day
Up at 6:30 to drive over to Charlton ... just in case. I left the car over there so when I get the coach back from Kings X, I can jump in and go home as oppossed to trying to hail a cab. There will be 800 people crammed into Valley Cabs at 4 oclock in the morning. Not a pretty sight.
To answer the questions ... yes 27, yes Tupac ... and yes the tourists in Barca had big rucksacks and yawned with their mouths open. What that's all about I do not know?
I suppose one mans yawn is another mans stifle. One mans rucksack is anothers holiday. But do you have to do it on my train ... in my face?????
I was upgraded to Business Class on the return from Barca. Redirected as well from Heathrow to Gatwick. My brother now tells me that I should have received about a hundred notes in compo. Blimey, the things you find out.

THAT GRIND STONE
Right ... it's pishing down with rain, it's cold and I'm 27. Happy days.
3 days in Barcelona isn't exactly enough time. I got to do the Gaudi and Picasso stuff ... saw the Camp Nou (disappointed) sat on the beach, had a look in Zara home, and drank loads of Sangria. Thre was still a long list of places and things I wanted to see, so I'll have to go back. Luckily I didnt have to go on a tourist bus, bloody tourists.
It's the Boro match tomorrow. It's a 12:30 meet to catch the football special. With it being a football special it will have crap facilities. I can see it now. No sandwiches, or water ... being held outside Darlington as they turn the track around. At least the journey home will be good ... **shakes his head**.
It's easter weekend. I have a lunch at Keeleys Friday, and then a long relaxing weekend. I hope you have a good one.

The Gym
It's a strange old thing. I'm back into the swing of it right now, and enjoyed an hour of Body Attack this lunchtime. It was Body Max yesterday and TBC on Monday. I'll get there eventually when I stop eating crisps.
However it does surprise me the amount of people who go but don't really put the work in. Half way through the Body Max class as I'm trying to keep the bicep reps going I noticed two women chatting away. They were curling the exquivalent of an envelope, no sweat no tears ... what's the point. Today as I walked towards my class I notice three women sitting on the excercise bikes. Each of them reading a paper!!!!! All that was missing was the berret a basket and a french stick. If you go to the gym work it. That's the whole point.
It's good to get back in the groove after a few months off just before Christmas, but I think I need to actually slow down a wee bit. Maybe do 4 days instead of 5. Just thinking out loud.
I've just booked the train and plane up to Southport in May. Hopefully the weather will be good. There's a Chuff Chuff in Blackpool on the Sunday night. Nuff said.

Twenty two years ...
Can you believe I was 5 when the greatest Soul Singer EVER was shot dead!!!!!!! Time does indeed fly. It's dawned on me that you are a long time dead .... so enjoy life, infact Choose Life.
I'm looking forward to Barcelona on Friday. It's hotter than it is here ... so I may have to take flip-flops. I want to see this.
It's Bibbobs birthday today, he's lost 3 stone in 7 months by eating cabbage. I don't want any of his birthday cake.
It seems like Don from the cricket club got married. Congratulations are in order there, but I'm not sure when you know that this would be the "one"!!!!!
I'm also looking to go to Lahores on Thursday. I did consider Tayyabs but Mush said Lahores has better starters. The lamb chops are exquisit.
Blimey, I've just had a text to say the Boro match is a sellout. Unbelievable that on a Wednesday night 5000 of us will be let down ooop North.

High ho ...
I'd like to give a big shout out to Smudge who got me a ticket for the free train this morning. Operation Riverside is in full effect. It's turned into a 4 hour dry train journey though, which could be a bind. Oh well, a book of crosswords and a Sony Walkman will help.
After paying 30 notes for the shite at West Ham yesterday I nearly knocked Boro on the head. It was total pants and both Big Bent and Inspector Spector were inept. I just feel sorry for Little Bent who can't do it all himself. It was fun to see Konchesky try and give it in a sort of "I don't care" sort of way but he is quoted as the Chicken Run quickly drowned them out!!!!! I must of missed that bit. I remember when the est Ham Chicken Run was full of bald balloon heads. Yesterday it was full of puss from spotty herberts.
I watched Bullet Boy over the weekend. Quick a dark, harrowing film made within the BBC remit. It was better than I thought it would be. It's another that I would recommend.
Ended up in Pizza Express on Saturday afternoon. That was after finding a parking space. I always forget how overly priced their food is, that is until the bill turns up.
It's now only 4 days until a trip to Barcelona. In fact this will be my first ever trip to Spain, taking away the Canary Islands. I'm practicing my "Holas".

Operation Riverside .....
Come on then, let's be having you. I'm sure Delia got in there first but come on, there's no excuse. A free trip up to Boro providede by the club. We've got to take 5000, just got to. Just think, how many travel blankets will that be? Trains, planes and automobiles have been sourced for what could be argued is one of the biggest Charlton games of a generation. In the Cup anyway.
I ended up watching Question Time last night and very strange it was to. It was from Moscow and had a plethora of Moscovites discussing things that weren't really relevant to me. Well I dont think they were relevant to me, but hey.
Eastenders last night, what a roller coaster ride. Should be good family viewing tonight.

Another day in Paradise
It's been another busy day. No rest for the wicked.
How about that then. Operation Riverside. The mobilisation of 5000 supporters up to Teeside for the Cup Replay. It appears the club are putting on free coaches/ trains. I'll have to consider it. A coach is a no, no ... but if they can subsidise the train fair ... crack on.
Hopefully I'll be back with something witty later, but I've got a few things to do first.

April Showers
There's a hosepipe ban and it hasn't stopped raining in days. Yes, we need to make up rainfall by having 3 years worth of continual rainfall, but rain is so depressing. Give we crisp clean cold weather any day.
So Arsenal won 2-0 against the Old Lady, I was watching Adopt a Grandad.
News from Peckham about the sighting of an American Robin. No not Jonathan Spector, but the Cousin of our usual Robin Red Breast. The last time one was sighted in the UK it got eaten in Grimsby!!!!!!

No time ...
It's been a hectic couple of days. I haven't had the time to do any of my usual thangs. Unfortunately this blog had to suffer, but as JammyBob said on Sunday no one reads it anymore!!!!!
I'm sitting in the Office and the Boss has on "Soft Rock" what the hell is that all about. It's 2006 ... Soft Rock is definitely not HOUSE.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable win on Sunday. Against the Toon 3-1. Yep Parker got abuse ... Lee Bowyer got his name chanted. How times have changed. It's quite strange that the fans have been castigated for their continual chanting at Parker. Two years have elapsed, but this was the first time he's been back. What do people expect. He was always going to get it. Just imagine what will happen when Murphy comes back. And he's not that good.
Uncle Tim put me onto Starpoint Radio last night as Frosty was throwing out shout outs like no tomorrow. It's a proper Radio Station.
I didn't have time for any food at lunch, so it's a big lardy dinner for me.

The balls in the hat
I actually enjoyed the match against Boro last night. Whatever the BBC or the Sun say about a bore draw. It was a good match between two well matched teams, with not too many opportunities. If only we could get a striker who could hold the ball up like Viduka we would be laughing. I'm not sure if I want to put myself through a trip ooop North for the replay, but I might. We are ball number 1.
It appears the club have been listening to their customers and are reducing season ticket prices for next season. Mine is going down by £10 but you can now get youth tickets for under £100. Now that's good business.
I didn't comment yesterday on old Alan Shearer, because I was laughing too much. Old Alan wacastigationng Shaun Wright-Phillips for diving and getting Bobby Elliott sent off. Hold on!!!! Is this the same Alan Shearer who spent the first 6 years of his career falling at every opportunity, then the next 6 elbowing anyone within reach? Mopinionon of him changed when he tried to dive over Andy Petterson and win a penalty when we played them in the Cup some years back. What comes around goes round. Alan Shearer went to Newcastle and won nothing. We can always remember that. Teddy Sherringham has more medals, Andrew Cole has more medals as does Dwight, and Ole. Decisions Alan, decisions.
It's raining ... I hate the rain.
It's also Mothers Day on Sunday. Say you love your Mum, it's important.

Strange ...
I was having a look at the archives from two years ago and wondered where the time went? Was up in Newcastle for a game, bought a Zoo York belt. Ho hum ... how times change.
It's the big game tomorrow. I was quite surprised to see how much Brum capitulated last night aginst the Scousers. They look in trouble, and if I was a Pompey fan I'd be quite happy about it.
I've got a bit of a throbbing head today. A few too many B52's and Vodka shots. Every now and again.
It's the Apprentice agin tonight. It gets better and better. Quality TV on a Wednesday evening. I missed Whistleblower last night and their take on Estate Agents.
England have won the test and drawn the Series. Good old Monty.

Would you wear Pringle?
There's always people who don't like what you wear and seem contented to either slag you off or try to ridicule you. Some bloke asked Natasha why she was wearing Chinese slippers. He stood there in black shiny ankle swingers with a jumper tucked in. Ironic or just plain stupid? You decide. Is wearing a pringle or Lyle and Scott jumper a play on Ronnie Corbett irony, or a throwback to the style of the 80's. Is facial hair the new mullet? Are drainpipes the new flares? Do you pull your jeans up, or wear them slung low? Do you match colours or mismatch? Do you wear socks with sandals to get a reaction or because you like to? Long hair or short? You can debate this forever, although Jambib has taken to the Italian look with the jacking jacket and sunglasses combo.
My tip for spring is bow-ties.
Why is a footballer who shows a dropped thumb seen as goading the opposition supporters? Come on, it was funny seeing Gallas do that as he trooped off on Sunday. It wasn't a wanka sign or the dreaded V sign (poor old Ricardo Fuller), it was a thumbs down!!!!

Dare to dream ...
A very interesting weekend all in. The sun shone, I didn't have to put myself through 90 minutes at the Library. I had a nice stroll alone Lancing Beach and got to see little India for the first time.
It could have been much worst. After 9 months my Mum was being taken into Hospital to have some cysts removed from her Liver. I said I'd take her in, but it was 7 o'clock on Saturday morning. So I went down Friday night as I didn't fancy the drive at 5 in the morning. What do I know? She had to call at 6 to make sure there was a bed!!!!! The NHS rocks. Anyway they had a bed, the sun shone and we got to Worthing Hospital at 6:55. We checked in, I pulled my hat down low and shut my eyes. About 15 minutes later they called my Mum in. Happy days I thought, as I had expected a good 3 hour wait before anything happened. 10 minutes later she was back out a gaunt look on her face. They aren't going to do the op today ... she said. It appeared that in the 9 months wait, they had forgotten to do a full scan, and the registrar said that they couldn't just go blindly in without checkingon the actual position of the cysts. That seems straight forward to me, but strange that no one had mentioned it earlier. He also said that as her blood pressure was high there may be a chance of a stroke if they did an operation. Get in there. At least he knew what he was on about. It's just annoying that after a 9 month wait for such an op, she's now no better off than she was last week. Nothing has been arranged and she's still in pain.
At least I got to see Leighs little India. It's strange seeing someone you've known for years have a little baby. But it must come to us all.
Not much news on the Charlton front, apart from they were shite at Arsenal. Of course that's what I've read. There was another lot of the "wrong fans" got the tickets. It seems like the sidddaaaannn brigade were out in force and they just sat there moaning at the get up and shout brigade who tried to get up and shout. You could say it's always been like that, and I would but the argument is why can't it change. The words on the Pink Oboe list is that they should use smart technology to make sure people who hve gone to Boro on a Sunday get priority to these tickets. I have to agree here, but as I always say ... what do I know?
It's the definative week for Charlton this week ... I can't even think about it.

Spring has sprung ...
Seen in Aldgate this lunchtime, even though it's minus 10.
So I don't need glasses!!! That's what the optician told me this morning. My eyes have an intollerance to the lenses. Have you ever heard anything so wrong? An intolerance to the lenses!!! Sounds like I was sold a dummy and then when I complained they backtracked. Dicing with your health. I don't trust dentists, opticians or traffic wardens. I've got to wait 28 days for the refund though.
The Mighty Ducks, ermmm ... I mean Addicks are a Highbury this weekend. A chance for us to get rained on, spat on, shat on. I might find a corner of the Tate Modern and watch paint dry.
I've been glued to the Commonwealth Games. The Isle of Man won a Bronze in the shooting just pipping the Isle of Dogs.

What could be worst?
Than this drug testing malarky. I presume if you're strapped for cash you'll do something like this, there was £2k in it ... but who's going to volunteer now. It appeares that after being injected they ended up looking like the Elephant Man.
I caught an episode of the Apprentice last night. Now that was quality entertainment. The boys team led by Alexa were completely hopeless as they bought 90 pizza bases and topping for 500 pizzas. They ordered 100 chickens and then hoped that people would buy Chicken Tikka Pizza!!!!! The most surprising thing was how bad Alexa actually was. If you look at her profile it says that Cambridge University educated Alexa is one of the younger Apprentice candidates at 28. Twenty Eight, she came across as about 16. She even says "I'm not one of those people who really cares a lot what people think of me." Well after watching the show last night I think you should be. It's quite interesting that in most of the contestants they have egotistical, inept, wannabee contestants. Slightly higher up the food chain that Big Brother but only slightly. It's interesting to see how they try to get them to work as teams when they all know that there is only one job on offer. That doesn't work to start with. They are all at each others throats, bickering about the slightest thing. But hey it makes great TV.
It's still absolutely freezing out. Cricket nets again on Saturday!!!!!
My tune of the day: My Heart Belongs To You - Melba Moore
Explaining why she wanted to be on the show, she says: "I want to be The Apprentice because I think it’s the ultimate business opportunity. Working with Sir Alan and seeing how he operates would be great. I think I could learn an awful lot from him."
Alexa has been a 'go-getter' since she was at school. She was MD of a Young Enterprise company while still doing her A levels, at university she got a summer job working for an investment bank in New York and her first job after graduating was as a fast-track consultant with Ernst & Young's consulting arm which is now called CapGemini Consulting.

The price of success ...
So Peter Varney has issued a rallying cry. Support us into the semis he says, as only 20 thousand tickets have been sold. Well I think that's quite good with over a week left. You know how apathetic people are especially with the match on TV, with the last few lackadaisical displays and how damn cold it has been. There's also been a run on matches recently, the Toon, Liverpool and Arsenal away all add up. We've got Wet Sham and Foolham to come and it all costs money. Saying that, this is the first Home Sixth round tie in my lifetime, and arguably the biggest Home FA Cup match since the replay with Bristol City back in the day. I remember that because I was unable to get a ticket, but remember listening to updates on the radio. I would think that may have been the last home game I wanted to attend that I couldn't as oppossed to not being arsed.
It could be an interesting night, and could be a defining match in our season, then again it might be a damp squib. I hope there's a slight mist in the air and it's a bit like the Ipswich Play-Off match in 98. Now that was an atmosphere.
After trying glasses for 4 weeks I think I've been had over. The damn things just give me a headache, and don't improve my eyesight. I think I need to go see the Optician again and see what he has to say. I wouldn't hold my breath though.
I'm also sure I'm not really cut out for Commuting. Why do people who are seated want to be the first people off the train as it comes into the final station? People get up, push past you and stand two inches from the door. Chill. Or get an earlier train.

Summertime special
I've actually been monitoring this petrolprices website to see how much petrol can be bought for in SE13. It's quite interesting that there are 245 petrol stations within 10 miles, with the Highest price in the area being 95p, the average price in the area being 89.5p, and the lowest price being 85p. The actual cheapest is the Shell/sainsburys in Forest Hill although there is the Esso Foxbeery Service Station which is nearesr and just 1.8p difference. So tell me, when does it become so important that you will drive 3 miles to save a few pence on a litre of petrol? If it was that important I'd go to the Esso Croydon Express which is only 6.66 miles away!!!!!
I see the Charlton reserves got turned oiver by Coventry last night. A team with Andersen, Youga, Ashton, Sankofa, Sorondo, Ricketts, Rommedahl, Varney, Jeffers, Brandao and Sam should be doing better? Shouldn't they? Maybe we should breed better 8 year olds.
I sat in traffic last night waiting for the Blackwell Tunnell to reopen. At around 19:15 something broke down and we didn't move again until 21:00. Talk about frustrating.

The wood for the trees ...
I was still shaking my head as I left the Valley yesterday. A fairly tame affair turned on it's head by one Darren Bent. If we didn't have Mr Bent but had, er ... John Stead instead (lol) then where would we be. The facts are that we tried to sign Big Jon before we signed Darren. Maybe because he had had Premiership experience. It beggars belief. Vidukas goal was a corker in itself and will warn nus what to expect come the Cup match. For a fat bloke I do like Viduka, and some of our forwards could learn a thing on holding the ball up. But then again maybe not.
I had another chat with Bibblybob about this Charlton academy thing. It grates me more and more that because the club have built a nice club house they automatically think kids will sign for them. Even though they don't have a presence. They are too busy sponsoring the North Kent League to worry about the League on their own doorstep. If Ronaldinho had been born in Harvey Gardens he would most probably be at Millwalls academy because the Charlton scouts are all down in Stroud. I don't get it.
I tried to bring these points up on the Pink Oboe list but they are more interested in the Police not attending when a cars window gets smashed when they park on an industrial estate. Have the police ever attended a smashed window? They didn't attend when the Mini got the petrol cap busted and petrol syphaned. They didn't attend when the mini got shunted in the front, when the Metro had the windscreen stolen, when the Metro had two wheels stolen or the boot caved in. In general it seems strange that you would want the Police to attend such matters.
It seems Welling are throwing their playoff chances away. They drew with Maidenhead on Saturday after conceding a 93rd minute equaliser, lost to then bottom Carshalton a few weeks ago and drew with bottom Newport a week or so before that.
I picked up a copy of the Daily Mail off the train today. It's scarey that they can still print some of the stuff they do, and even scarier that people buy it.
It was interesting watching people watch the rugby yesterday. England took a hell of a beating and peoples interests began to diminish. Could rugger be on its way out?

Bow ties and briefcases ...
I'm still having problems tying a bow tie. I've googled it until I'm blue in the face, but at the moment I'm getting the boss to tie it for me. Half an hours practice tonight whilst watching My name is Earl.
Question Time last night was one of them shows. I'm sure people don't listen to the question before they go rambling on. Three times I found myself shouting at the TV.
We are due snow this weekend, and it's the first net session of the season. I'll be looking out of the window at 10:00 to see if the sun shines before I make my mind up. Outdoor cricket nets, you definitely are having a laugh.
I was looking at Netaddicks and Smudge said "Friday night, out with the boys or girls, playing pool before moving on to a club". Do people play pool before moving onto a club? What club are we talking here? Flicks/ Zens, that one in Swanley, the Venue, or something more underground!!! Maybe I've missed out, I used to do a few bars and then do a club. Do you have to wear trousers in this club? Can you do magic tricks in the club? I think these questions need to be answered.

Direct Debit or Standing Order
What's the difference between the two? Isn't it something to do with how much I am willing to pay as opposed to how much the bank or whoever can take!!! I may be wrong. The reason I ask, is that the only Standing Order I have left is to Charltons Valley Gold scheme. The reason behind Valley Gold, was to enable the club to fund the youth setup and as they say unearthing the talents of tomorrow!!!! So how comes none of the talent coming through, is actually up to scratch? Could that be something to do with the players being attracted, the coaching setup/ staff, the facilities, the money being offered to players, or even that it's a complete waste of time, effort and money and we should just throw in the towel. Wouldn't it be easier to buy up the best 17 - 20 year olds in the lower leagues, loan them back out or play them in the reserves for a year. That way we wouldn't have to waist time in scouting youth players, training them, building nice huts for them to change in, or getting the supporters hopes up come FA Youth Cup time. Surely players like James Walker, Myles Weston and Alistair John would be best off somewhere else. Just look at how Lloyd Sam has been treated. These are players who are up their with the best in their age group. But they aren't good enough for Charlton!!!! That makes a hell of a lot of sense, but then again I may have an axe to grind!!!!!
It's quite infuriating when people don't read your emails correctly, or indeed choose not to read what you are saying.
I had mentioned on the Pink Oboe list yesterday the fact that PurpleSprouting JimBob had been coaching the Junior Reds under 8's, but no Charlton scout had been to see any off their Under 8 matches, and that only a handful of players had been signed up for the Charlton Academies Under 9's where as Millwall, Chelsea and West Ham had signed up all the best players from that League into their academies. I had made the point that if you are in the business of setting up an Under 9's team surely you want top have the best players available, whether they turn out to be shite at 11 or too small at 16. You've got to be in it to win it. I was told the facilities for the Charlton Academies were tremendous, they get loads of free kit and that SprinklyBob had that Axe to grind. Well you can't give Cooksley a SS and expect him to bat like Flintoff, or gice Gerry a new set of clubs and expect him to be the new Tiger Woods. But you can give them to an 8 year old who has shown aptitude and try to develop him as a player. Surely the sooner the better. Maybe I'm living a romantic existence? No, maybe I'm a realist.
On another sort of sour note, the club have announced that Tony Christie will be performing his hit ... (Is This The Way To) Amarillo? during the Boro Cup Match in a few weeks. Blimey, you could hear the collective sigh throughout the whole of the South East. Is this really what we should expect, or even want!!!??? Is there a reason behind it? It's all to do with last years end of season draw with the Palarse when Charlton fans were singing it in the Avenues And Alleyways of SE7. However it's now gone beyond a joke and this stunt maybe the straw that will break the camels back. We need to get some reality back into the equation.

What Chelsea need

So what was that all about? Chelsea, you know the team that have spent millions on their squad huffed and puffed last night and would have had trouble beating an egg let alone Barca. They just didn't go for it. Even with 20 minutes left, they needed two goals but nothing. If Drogba is worth £24 million I must be worth a couple myself. Oh well ... they can go out and buy Henry in the summer or maybe a Dyson if they want to splash the cash.
Wellings game at Farnborough was postponed. Hmmmph.
I watched a repeat of the Apprentice from last week. Jesus H. Where did they get these people from?
I got on the train this morning and was confronted by someone with their bag on the seat next to them and their feet on the seat in front of them. What's that all about? At what point do you get on a train and put your feet on the seats? It actually passes me by.
Another thing that amazed me was this Vicar who quite over not being able to forgive her daughters killer. She says she cannot forgive the bombers in the 7/7catastrophy. The "Sun" says millions of "us" will share her rage. Hold on a minute. Millions of us aren't practicing Christians!!!! I thought that at the heart of Christianity you had to forgive. Isn't that what Jesus said, "Forgive them father for they know what they do" Does that mean she wass taking all her parishioners for a ride. Everything she ever said was a lie. She's as much a Christian as Kev is ...

Before it passes me by, this was the sign I saw in Greenwich on Sunday. It was in a shop window. Ten grand for the return of a dog called Natasha!!!! Now that gives me a few ideas.
Yeah right, after all these years they say that Nessie was an elephant swimming in the lock. Surely they would have seen it go in and come out?
My latest ebay purchase turned up yesterday. The fluorescent Barcelona away top for a tenner from Bangkok. I will be wearing it tonight as I sit down to see Chelsea get blown out the water. It's going to be Messi.
Another mediocre midfielder is on his way out. Alexi Smertin is going back home. Bye bye Smerts. Oh and Welling are away at Farnborough this evening. Good luck to them I say.

Madge, Madge over here
Was the first thing I heard as I turned the TV on this morning. It was Oscars Night last night and we had both terrestrial channels trying to get a word with the "stars" as they entered the Vanity Fair after party. They were after a word with our Madge, or Madonna. What she has to do with the Oscars no one knows, well I don't anyway.
I went for lunch at the new Rivington Bar and Grill yesterday. It was a nice experience, the sun was shinning there weren't many in, the food was nice. I say nice, it was that but it wasn't stunning, outstanding or anything out of the ordinary. I had a mutton and turnip pie, mash and carrots, and a bakewell tart that came with a slither of ice cream. I would say you'd get more ice cream in my restaurant. Some peoples people skills do lead a lot to the imagination though. Right opposite me sat a bloke and his girlfriend/ wife/ partner. He read a Sunday broadsheet she stared into space. What's that all about?
I did get to watch Liverpool v Charlton on Saturday evening. I have to say although not overly enjoyable as a randon game of football, it was good to see Liverpool huff and puff and not able to blow the door down. This isn't about entertainment you know ... it's a business!!!!
It was crap though wasnt't it? With a capital CRAP!!!!
I went back to the opticians on saturday. I demanded a recount. I don't need glasses. Everytime I wear them I get a headache. That can't be right. I'm in discussions with them ...
A general question!!! What do people know about Jimmy Saville? Bibbib Bob told me a few stories on Saturday. I can't believe that.

Will he or won't he ....
It was an interesting Question Time last night. The usual protagonists, a Tory, a Labour a Lib Dem ... then the motley crew made up by commentators, authors and people like Will Self. The self styled Grumpy Old Man foams at the mouth as he spits his rubbish. He ghosts from one view to an opposite view, enjoying belittling his peers. He was joined in this by Sir Nicholas Winterton who sat there like old father time.
Unfortunately Question Time is only on for an hour. It needs to be double this and needs to be on earlier. You always find yourself half asleep. Maybe that's my problem!!!!
There's more discontent in the ranks. Luke Young has fired a broadside and appears to want out. This is the same Luke Young who came to Charlton from the Spudz as a bit part player, took3 years to actually settle down and look accomplished and now wants out. All a load of ballyhoo you might say. But then again ... Wyn Grant says he has been contacted by someone who has what, on the face of it, looks like quite convincing corroborative evidence that the Charlton captain will indeed be going to the Spudz in the summer. He was even able to provide the salary that Luke earns now and claimed that it would be doubled when he returned to White Hart Lane. Allllriteeee then. Lukes following Dandy Murphy out to Chadwell Heath. Good luck to you Luke, you'll definitely need the force there. Is it me or am I the only one that thinks Luke Young is overrated!!!! He's got no real footballing ability, has trouble really getting up and down the line and if we go buy a half decent full back will have no problem replacing him. The main problem is that he cost £4million quid. I know it's unbelievable. How much could we get for him now? £2 mill at a push?
Isn't it good when you go home of an evening and it's still light? Roll on putting the clocks back.
I've bought myself some bow ties. It's not easy tying the damn things, even after I'd trawled the net for clues in how to do it. Make a bow here, flip that under there ... I should have got one on elastic.
There's still a hell of a lot of people who yawn without putting their hand over their mouth.

Footballs coming home ....
So they sang, as Rio, David, Stevie and the likes strutted around last night. They played at one tempo, didn't pass to players in better positions and genarally moaned at the ref. Backham twatted a player from behind then said he'd slipped, Rooney spat his bile all around the pitch and poor old Benty was left to his own devises. Shame your not from Trinidad Benty.
I missed the Apprentice watching that shower last night. Alan Sugar makes me laugh ... his PE teacher told him he wouldn't amount to much, seems like he was right.

Park View Cold ...
Blimey, how cold was it last night. Not for me I was wrapped up warm ... but the poor sods from Welling and Histon who served up the most uninspiring game of football since Charlton played Villa.
Luckily I only paid £5.
An interesting thread on Netaddicks where Suzi Sausage went to Italy for the Rome/ Lazio Derby. It seems she was impressed by the "passion" of the supporters. A bit of flag waving, booing, whistling doesn't really rock my world ... but hey. It's funny when someone goes to watch football in another country and gets blown away with a different experience. It's the same with everyone, but you can't compare the two. Going to Brazil to watch Flamengo is different from going to watch Charlton, as is going to Rome to watch Lazio/ Roma, as is going to watch Chievo against Bologna. Football means different things to different people. If you wanted passion you should go to Welling against Weymouth!!!!
It's snowing and Benty makes his England debut tonight. Don't miss it ...

To DNA or not too DNA ...
So the Polis want 4000 residents in Croydon (only white or light skinned mind you) to have a DNA test, so they can be elimanated from their enquiries. Righto. So can someone explain how they know what colour people are without making assumptions? Yes, you can go through the electoral register and work out that Ike Aneke may be black that Sunny Patel may be of Indian origin, but Winston Smith could be? Black, white ... indifferent!!!!
The Polis confirm that the samples would not be put on the national database. The answer is why not? Also they also say that anyone who does not co-operate can expect a visit from them at home!!!!! Oh right ...
You can get in at Park View Road tonight for a fiver if you take along your Charlton season ticket. Welling are playing Histon, in a sort of top of the table playoff battle.
I've had two days in glasses now and my eyes hurt. What's that all about?
It's pancake day today ... or to give it it's correct title Shrove Tuesday. It's actually a Christian festival stroke day which marks the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. It's a day of penitence, to clean the soul, and a day of celebration as the last chance to feast before Lent begins. Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the ritual of shriving that Christians used to undergo in the past. In shriving, a person confesses their sins and receives absolution for them. When a person receives absolution for their sins, they are forgiven for them and released from the guilt and pain that they have caused them. Well there you go ... repent your sins, all you who have had a go at Radostin Kishishev and now Marcus Bent. All you fat overweight Sunday footballers who don't know the first thing about the Beautiful game. Repent I say ... repent.

Somebody elses guy
Strangely as it seems I had, and I say had been hooked on the BBC's Just the Two of us. The reason behind it was the inclusion of Alexander O'Neil and the first lady, Jocelyn Brown. Now I have had the pleasure of seeing both of these artists live and I can tell you, Jocely Brown can sing a song. You can hear her sing with Masters at Work on "I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun", if you don't know it just go and listen. Any way I digress. I was watching the BBC show for these two acts, and within 3 days both had been voted out. Given that there are about 3/4 people on the show that can't hold a note it's an embarrassment. But not a surprise eh!!!!!
The Charlton scrapped another point at the weekend ... a bore draw against the Vanillans. I watched Green Street on Sunday, quite a strange film but again well worth a watch.
Oh and the washing machine sprang a leak this morning. At 7:30 the kitchen was a wash and I was ankle deep. It appears the water presure was too high for the pipes!!!! And they were crossthreaded ... so much for paying someone to do it for you. It's luck I bought a steam mop.
I'm thinking of tweed and bow ties for a spring look. Matched with some low slung denim ...

Guinness and ting
What a wonderful evening. We had Stevie Brown letting us know a few ins and outs of his career with Charlton, David White giving us a few insights into the boardroom and Vince making a complete tit of himself. Did I vote for Vince????
Some of the stories you hear from ex players puts some of the things you watch over the years into perspective. However the realisation that David Whyte was Completely Mad won't go amiss. It was interesting to hear that Brownie one regret was not ruffling enough feathers ... I'll take that on board myself.
The day for our Boro match has been revealed. We're on the Thursday. Chelsea and Liverpool got the Tuesday and Wednesday, surprise so our Saturday game aginst the Toon gets pushed back to the Sunday. Our league game aginst Boro is also pushed to the Sunday because they have to play the previous Thursday in the UEFA. Can't we have a bleedin Saturday game? Sundays are a day of rest, or a day to potter not go to football.
I've just had a voice message that my glasses are ready. Three days turned into two weeks. Two hundred notes for what exactly?
Don't you just hate travelling to work on a Friday. There are a plethora of people with bags on sticks getting in your way. A bloke wheeled his into my foot this morning and the bag I kid you not was more of a wallet. He was still pulling it though. Pick the thing up you lazy so and so.
On a side note, tell the people you love that you do in fact love them. Don't be shy ... just do it.

Got to get your own ...
I have to say I did watch some of that Chelsea and Barca game last night. When Robben was trying to shepherd the ball out from Messie I thought just give it the big heave ho into the stand. You know the old Rufus magic. No, he tried to be clever and the result got Del Horno sent off. It wasn't a red card, but that's what you get playing in Europe. Cheating Argies, diving Swedes, Frolicking Fogs, sod that. I'd prefer to seeus huff and puff against the Toon than try to cheat out way past Loci Lopzig Dynamos. A European tour, now you really are having a laugh.
Did you notice how Ronaldinho only played for the last 15 minutes!!! He went about his business and as the Chelsea players tired he started to take the Micheal. That's the way to do it.
Oh did I say Charlton got a 0-0 up in Newcastle. A largely lackluster affair, but after 6 defeats out of 7 beggars can't be choosers. Get the points on the board and then worry about it. This isn't entertainment you know.
It's the City Addicks meeting tonight. Somewhere in Trump street in the City. (That's why it's called the City Addicks ... lol.) Stevie Brown and John Robinson ... should pass an evening.

Using sex ...
Unbelievable ... I wrote my blog for today and saved the damn thing, then it disappeared. Yes, I thought I had pressed the wrong button ... but per-lease, I do know what I am doing!!!!!
Anyway here goes ...
It's series 2 of the Apprentice this evening and Sir Alan Sugar has come out firing. One of the tasks was for the womans team to buy groceries at the lowest possible price and then sell them for a profit. The women are seen flirting, showing some cleavage, and offering some phytsical favours (whatever those may be????)
Sir Al, came out and said If women want to be taken seriously they can't go through life acting like that.
Whooosh ....
I'm sure though that both women and men use whatever they have got to get ahead in life. They need to seal the deal, win that contract, get that job. In an ideal world you wouldn't need to offer favours ... but this isn't an ideal world. Surely personal charm can be an effective tool. I've been doing it for years !!!!!
So the Arse went to Spain and rained on the plain. The pubs in North London were doing a roaring trade, as all their dogs on a string got left outside. But hey, it's half time. What's the betting that they fcuk it up at Highbury in the next leg. Laugh ... you would.
Talking about buggering it up, the Mighty Wings went to Bottom placed Carshalton and lost. The Wings losing their lustre?
Oh and the washing machine is leaking. They need to send an engineeer to sit with me and watch the spin cycle.

Time gentlemen ....
I've noticed a disturbing habit of people gobbing on the street. Everywhere you look there are globules of spit, green and stringy. It's all very strange. People even clear their throats quite loudly as well. Use a hankie.
It's Scott Parkers first appearance against Charlton tomorrow. He never made it in the blue of Chelskov. Give him a cheer lads.
I was perusing the Welling United Supporters Website and had to chuckle when I say a posting from a bloke called Dutchie regarding his experience at Saturdays Basingstoke match. He says ...
"I attended the Basingstoke game & was DISGUSTED in the bad language from Welling fans. You are trying to gain more Addicks fans but who would want to stand with your foul mouths. To cap it all, your stewards did NOTHING to stop this. I have attended hundreds of matches in my time & i can quite honestly say that you are the worst fans for bad language i have ever come across.
I for one intend never to visit again & will let others know of my experience.
So much for friendly relations. (It's a pity you don't copy the attitude of your players who i thought were excellent)."
That's why I go to Welling ... to hear the swearing. It's funny the way opposition players get wound up by it all. Dutchie ... I think you need to get out more.

Onwards and upwards ...
It's quite funny when you realise that Charlton are an established Premiership team. Yes we could get relegated at some point, but it's quite funny when you realise that you have become a good day out to your opponents in the FA Cup. Leyton Orient and now Brentford had their day in the sun and were sent packing by an unglamorous Charlton. All I've heard about Saturdays game is how heavy handed the Charlton stewards were and how Charlton didn't sing. It made me chuckle anyway. Aren't stewards heavy handed anyway? Go to Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, the Arse ... Wolves, Birmingham. They are all the same, about 6ft 3 bald headed and sweating a lot. Given the opportunity they'll wade in. You know what it says on the tin. It's not big and it's not clever but that's how it is. If you continue to give them mouth you'll be in for it. That's what happened on Saturday and still the Brentford fans moan. They even went on Talk Sport to say they had been ejected for singing. Another chuckle.
As for Charlton fans not singing, it's not a Karaoke night. If I wanted to sing I'd join an Operatic Society. I couldnt really make out what the Brentford were singing anyway, but as long as they are all back home in West London everything will be ok.
Now the draw. There's some hard games in the hat .... hold on this is Charlton in the Cup, every game would be hard, who am I kidding.
It rained all day yesterday. So I watched Hotel Rwanda. Now this is a film that everyone should watch. They should make people watch it, it should be compulsory.
Why do people just veer left or right when they are walking. They just walk into you with by you or leave ... what's that all about?
It still puzzles me about Councils recyling, and their policies. About two years ago in Lewisham we were given paper recycling bins, then two months ago they disappeared. Before that though I also noticed the recycling bins being emptied into the back of the trucks ... strange. (I've just phoned Lewisham to order a new bin, job number 332934 ... strange. )

Footballers are human too ...
Well some of them anyway. It's quite funny to see the difference in the way some of these guys run their lives. You have the family man, get's his head down, has a couple of kids, a mock tudor mansion in Southport, a wife that enjoys botox. You have the playboy, out partying, likes Rn'B ... has a funny haircut ... then you have the undercover lover. But I'm not covering that hear. If you hit certain clubs in London, you can always find a footballer or two. When I used to go to the Spot you could always bump into Andrew Cole, David Howells, Jody Morris, and a few parties I've seen Stevie Watts, Ashley Cole, Carlton Cole, Jon Fortune, Peter Crouch. All mates together. But where does that leave our family man. Well it leaves him vunerable, soul searching ... unsure of himself. Why you might ask? Why?
Well I'll tell you.
Do you think that Ashley Cole is bothered about the Chelsea tapping up reports. Do you think that if Jon Fortune is sitting onthe bench one Saturday he is bothered about playing or bothered about when he can get away to hook up with his "spars"? Are any of them bothered about what the average supporter thinks? What the average supporter says? Or average supporter does? Of course not, they get their money, they go out and get laid.
But the family man is bothered. Take one Radostin Kishishev. Well below is an interesting email from one Charlton fan Richard Hunt. Our man in Prague who emails regularily to the pink oboe list.
Yesterday Vasco called me, having just had a conversation with a somewhat distraught Kish. He had called Vasco desperate for someone to advise him why the Charlton fans dont like him. Vasco sees a lot of games on TV but promised he would ask me for a more informed view.
Not for the first time this season I found myself asking whether Charlton is still the club so dear to my heart or indeed the one Kish joined, but that wasnt much use to him. So I told him that based on this list, I could state that 70-80% of fans actually do appreciate Kish, and the debate has raged about why a minority get on his back.
I told him my opinion was that he is the midfielder who always makes himself available for the ball, and never hides; and that most of the work he does is of necessity relatively unglamorous. Its not the kind of work which elicits spontaneous applause - unlike the kind of passes or space making cameos we got from Murphy or Jensen. However because of his position, any mistake he makes is often in a critical zone, and this elicits howls of disapproval. So that is what he hears. No cheers, just boos. I repeated that most of the people on the List know he sweats blood for the team each week, and hate the fact that he is booed by a minority. But I felt appalled by what I had heard.
I realise that most of the idiots who boo and jeer him that dont go near this List. Those who criticise Kish on the List are entitled to wish that he perhaps might make less mistakes, or that we could afford one that does what he does better ( despite the frequent reminders that we could not afford to re-sign Parker).
However here is stark evidence that footballers are human too, and what we have in the treatment of Kish is in my opinion a form of bullying. He is a thoroughly decent guy, family man, looks after himself, and does not rearrange McDonalds or fight teammates. And he has worn the shirt with pride for six years. He urgently needs a lift. I urge anybody who feels like I do to let Kish know. You could just drop a line to Vasco directly at
danailov_vv@yahoo.com
and Vasco would call Kish and read out any messages he gets. Nothing long. But the more there are, the more he will believe in it.
Me I am going to vote for Kish for player of the year."
Well there you have it. Who would you rather have in your team Kish or Murphy. In an ideal world Kish, but the world isn't full of fluffy clouds and egg hunts at Easter. I have no problem with Radostan Kishishev. He is a good player. He runs, he harries, he tackles ... he gives the ball away. All in a days work. But sometimes he needs to be given a rest. Not his fault, but Curbs. There's no booing for Rad from me, but sometimes just sometimes you need to take a player out of the firing line and put an arm round him. How must Jason Euell be thinking?

Suited and booted ...
The Brits ... what's that all about? James Blunt best Pop act, Madonna best International act, Lemar best URBAN!!!! act, KT Tunstall best UK Female act ... yea that's got my juices flowing. Only surpassed by the Arctic Monkeys being best breakthrough act. Maybe I'm getting old?
I think I may be stereotyping, no pigeon holing my like for House as I can't stand any of these acts. When you hear the likes of Blaze, Anane ... Raul Midon you know you are HOUSE.
House music all night long ... say what.
Well Charlton have brokered a deal to allow Charlton season ticket holders a cheap admission (£5) to Welling Uniteds game vs Histon in late Feb. The initiative, also include a range of community and commercial activities !!!!
"We have always had an excellent relationship with Charlton at all levels and we are delighted that they have agreed to work with us in this way to make it even more productive," said Graham Hobbins. That's actually quite funny. On a personal note that is ... given that I was once banned from Welling.
It's also FA Cup day on Saturday and MAD Man Martin MADDOG Allen has started to light the fuse ... (special forces and fierce opposition ... jeeez)

Moaning scousers
A week ago we all looked long and hard at whether Darren Bent was actually felled in the area against the European Club Champions. Was he, wasn't he ... who knows? Pullover Dudek said he dived, Rafa winged in his best scouse accent and we all thought we had got a right touch. Forward on a week. Liverpool against the Arse. Morientes is felled in the box. There is one sentance in the paper quoting it was a harsh decision!!!!! Where was Jumper Dudek giving it large, where was Rafa ... yes where was Rafa and his rosey cheeks?Celebrating an 89th minute winner that's where. Sod Arsenal but Liverpool can definately go and do one ... right la'd.
It was Valentines Day yesterday. I hope you all got yours? I had a nice meal of Cod and Chips, with processed peas, a cup of tea, glass of wine and a sticky toffee pudding with custard. Rock on.
I'm actually feeling a tad under the weather. My legs ache (nothing to do with upping the weights in the Body Max class), I have a headache and feel bunged up. There's a Body Attack class today but I'm not sure if I want to do it.

Pin and Chip ...
A strange day at the gym. The class was only a third full. It's usually packed ... jkust goes to show how many illicite affairs are going on eh? Nipping out for a quick Valentines lunch before a quick exit home to the wife. Quite remarkable.
I was just given a HUMANMETRICS - Jung Typology Test to do. Very strange in it's concept because the questions seem to be similar just ass about face. Anyway I cam out as an ESTJ -Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging. You must be having a laugh.
Our final away day at Highbury is coming up. It'll be quite strange not to go there next season, but I'm sure we'll be able to give them a little going away present. Four or five goals!!!!
It's London Fashion Week, I need to get a look for summer so I'll be taking a ken interest.
It's the winter olympics. Did you see the British woman snowboarder, Lesley McKenna. She fell over ... twice. She should have taken up curling.

Can't see the wood for the trees ...

So I go down to Lewisham and have a sight test. Yep, C,V,B,O.F ... 30. That's the bottom line. I work with VDU's all the time, I'm at that age ...????? 27 .... !!!! I'll check the back of your eyes he says ... nothing wrong there.
Anyway I'll be giving you a prescription. Use these ... only 80 notes. Choose a frame. Now come on you can't buy anything good for under a ton. So I try on about 50 pairs .. yeah these will do ... that's 120, so all in a big 200 pounds. Blimey, they definately saw me coming.
But when do I wear them? Just when I'm on a PC!!!! What about driving, or watching TV ???? CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHO SAYS IT'S A DYING ART!!!
Another defeat at the weekend. We are now definately looking back over our shoulder. We are 3 points behind Everton, 6 behind Wigan .... and we need a good 8 more points to say we are safe. But I'm losing interest. I watched most of the second half yesterday, and after we got ourselves back in the game, we lost concentration for 10 minutes. Whoooosh, then we get hit by a two goal suckerpunch and that is backs to the wall. It's dinner time I thinks. My Sunday scran was chicken breasts stuffed with haggis with arosti tats and a turnip gravy. I'm blitzing the turnips listening to Five Live when one of the Bent boys heads home our second. I bound into the front room to see it in full colour. Come on you reds lets get at 'em. Well we bring on 3 attackers and don't do anything for 20 minutes, apart from that save right at the death. But it's 3 points lost ... another 3 points and it's making this weekends Cup Match look like a make of break. I'm in the "Family" Stand!!!!! Or I maybe for 10 minutes before I get asked to leave.
One of my fish died on Saturday. I couldn't find him in the tank but eventually saw him under the leaves at the bottom. He's been with me a good 5 years so it was with a heavy heart that I flushed him down the pan. I bought two new ones on Sunday, black eye and golf ball.
Oh it's Valentines day tomorrow .... why not use this one above ..!!!

Some mothers do 'ave 'em ...
And Old Mother Dudek has a prize one at that. Oh dear Jerzy, Pullova, or Tanktop whatever's easiest, please go and polish your Euro Medal or something. Darren is Bent because the Charlton striker told him.
Our Dazza lay on the floor, looked up and said " Sorry, sorry ... I dived, I did dive." But when the pen was given he got up and shrugged. That looked like it from my angle anyway. This was throught the phlegm that Carragher was spitting out. Dudek, why don't you go have dinner with Murphy. You can both choke on your canneloni.
It's the start of the Super League season tonight ... jee whiz.
As the sun was shinning, I pulled the old fur coat out of the wardrobe today. It's looking a bit worst for wear, but it's the old favourite. I think I need a few new coats for summer. A dog tooth check mac maybe, a white tux, a pink linen number. Oh, maybe not.
It's another non footballing Saturday this weekend. The ManxCity match having been moved so Sky could cover it on Sunday!!!!! They really are taking the pish. I had a look to see who Welling were playing, but they are away at Cambridge City. Sod that. It'll be waxing the car then.
I actually enjoyed Wednesday as a sporting event. I had forgotten how funny it is to get a penalty. It seems a generation away that Clyde Mendonca used to tumble in the box.
It's the start of the Winter Olympics today ... jee whiz.
Blimey, I just read that Ron Greenwood passed away yesterday. I'm not a Wet Sham fan, so have no allegance there, but I do remember the 1982 World Cup Song, Ron's 22.

Stoking up the fire
Well there you go ... it's a funny old game. Chelsea march on the march to Wembley, Sven is off to Inter and if England win the World Cup with Peter Crouch in the team the world will stop as we know it. Seven million pounds for a lanky lightweigh gazel like string of stringy stuff. The only consolation is that Curbs never really went in for him, even though he admires him !!!!!!
Liverpool without Gerrard is like Little without Large, Hardy without Laurel, Preston without Chantelle. Ineffective. They huffed and they puffed and they couldn't blow the house down. They do have some good players, well they are European Club Champions, but Carragher reminds me of the spiteful Liverpool players of the 70's and 80's, Finnan played for Welling United, Alonso now believes his own press and Sissoko well quite unbelievable really. It is good to see the Bent Boys starting to fathom an understanding, and Perry always does a job. Myhre shows that you dont have to break the bank for a dependable goalkeeper, and Kishishev runs, runs and runs. (Didnt Forrest Gump do that?) I hadn't realised we had only conseded 1 goal in 6 Home Prem games, so congratulations on that. All we have to do now is the same away from home. Starting in Manchester on Sunday.
I still shake my head at some peoples habits. People on trains that put there bags on seats next to them. Fat people who try to push themselves into a small seat between two other people. People who read as they walk. Groups of people who walk in a line slowly. Girls who speak loudly on the phone "I'm on the 5:52 ..." Aren't we all love?
I think Jambib is going to buy an apartment in Valencia. We can't work out why!!!!

Close but no cigar ...
Vince, Vince ... Vince. What the hell were you thinking? Eight freaking votes, and you could have been in like flynn. You could have been the independent supporters voice, the man in the pub, the man in the stand ... no political agenda, just doing it because you cared.
Eight votes, even I can't believe that. I know of at least 15 people who didnt vote, but would of voted for Vince if they could have been assed, or in fact if he could have been assed to ask them.
So it's another CASC person doing the job. Another two years of not rocking the boat, no news is good news, target 100,000. We could end up with 100,000 twats all sitting clapping in a line. And there was we dreaming of Haime Big Foot Henderson down at Welling United.
We've got "The Pool" tonight. I'm not in the mood, to watch Fowler come back and haunt us. Oh it will happen. A funny thing on Netaddicks was that we should sing "Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken lay a lil' egg for me" tonight. I had to have a double take then I remember this. Oh how we laughed.
I'm sorry if you have seen this before, but for once the Daily Mail hits something fairly and squarely on the head and doesn't demand deportation. It's another one of them Danny Murphy articles ... sorry ...
WATCH OUT, DANNY, THE MISSUS IS IN THE PAPER AGAIN.
The peculiar phenomenon of the Footballer's Wife grows by the day. Not content with tipping off the paparazzi every time they go shopping, or writing glossy magazine 'style' columns explaining how to apply fake tan, they have now invaded sport. Yes, they are writing football columns. Well, I say ' writing', but it would be kinder to say that they talk and some words miraculously appear under pouting photographs, pushing back the cause of female emancipation in sports journalism by at least a decade in the process. The most amusing of these offerings appears in what used to be a broadsheet newspaper under the name of a former model called Joanna
Taylor. I am reliably informed that she was also in a television show called Hollyoaks, a younger, thicker version of Brookside, followed by Merseybeat, a younger, thicker version of The Bill. But in recent times, aside from some panto work, her chosen career has been chronicler of Danny Murphy's life and self-styled 'footballer's wife'. And so she writes about her spouse. Endlessly. 'I know my husband pretty well,' she says, which is a start, I suppose. Unfortunately, she has decided to share this information with the rest of us. Every week, Taylor explains his frame of mind, makes excuses on his behalf, ticks off managers and fans who don't appreciate him quite as much and regales us with insight like 'footballers are not as interesting as people think'. Well, we can see that. Recently Mrs Murphy complained that she had been invited to only one film premiere since Danny joined Charlton, and even then it was Phantom Of The Opera. Thankfully, this inconvenience was cleared away when Murphy departed for Spurs last week, leaving Charlton manager Alan Curbishley to observe acidly: 'I'd imagine that his social diary will be that much fuller now.' The
footballe's wife had to reply. 'Danny wouldn't want to say anything', she said,
not that it stopped her speaking on his behalf again. 'Curbishley obviously does
not read this column otherwise he would know we do not go out much,' she tutted.
Frankly, I'm not surprised. The way she goes on, the chap must be too
embarrassed to leave the house. My tune of the day: I declare war - Double Exposure

Organic or orgasmic ...
The sandwich I had today was a Vegan jobby, from a company called Fresh who specialise in fresh, organic ingredients. I had the "Bugsy" sandwich with organic carrot, houmous, salad leaves and alfalfa sprouts. It was quite filling ... but maybe that was the Beetroot, apple, pear and ginger Innocent drink. This was after a Body Max class at the gym ... I'm definitely in the groove.
I actually got 6 loads of washing done yesterday. How I was going to dry them was another question, but the radiators played a blinder.
I put the car in for a service and MOT. Another £200 but I had been told that was the norm for a service. It's quite amusing when they give you a scribbled piece of paper with some explanation to what's what on it. Oil Filter, air filter, something else which I can't read, another thing that makes no sense. Unbelievable.
Whilst waiting for the car and the washing yesterday I watched "The Passion of the Christ". This was my first selection on ScreenSelect as I am trialling them asopposedd to Lovefilm that I usually use. Now I'm not a religious person but I was engrossed in the story. It's hard to believe that that would have actually happened without the poor sod dropping down dead well in advance of getting up on the cross. But then again it's a film. It's strange the way that people actually take religion and use it for their own purposes. That fella who dressed as a Suicide Bomber, who had been a drug dealer. It seems he was dressed as a suicide bomber, but I tell you, there was no chance he would be one. As a drug dealer he's proved that he's just out for himself. Does religion and drug dealing go hand in hand ....? I think not. It's just shows what a completes crock it all is.
Next I'm going to watch Confessions of a Window Cleaner, much safer.

Mondays
So I take the day off. My new washing machine is being delivered, at some point today. They can't give me a time just at some point today. 6:45 this morning the bell went. 6:45 ... is that taking the piss??? Typically though things never go smoothly. The blokes has the wrong drill bit so can't get the plugs off the back. He then plums the water in incorrectly so when I turn the taps back on, there is water everywhere. So eventually at about 9:30 I can do some washing. Four complete washes later, the flat is like a chinese laundry. The smell of washing powder is overbearing.
We capitulated at Spudz then. I watched some of it, but went to Homebase at 2-0. There comes a time when the season seems to be over. It's only Feb and we are crap.
It's weird having a day off at home. I popped down to the Dry cleaners to get a few items and got a sandwich from the Co-op. Quality eh?

The Glow of Love
I'm just playing the Dimitri - In the House of Love CD. Luther Vandross singing the Glow of Love. Now that is what you call music. The Arctic Monkeys can kiss my a$$.
There was an interesting post from Smudge on the Netaddicks board this morning, talking about inflatable and the like. It made me a bit misty eyed, thinking about when football wasn't a game for the masses, that started in 1990 with England in the World Cup and the Premier League in 92. But I mean when football was fun, inflatable bananas, silly hats, plastic trumpets, doing pressups at Welling to correspond to the number of the player that scored. I actually miss some of the fun we had. It's just a matter of sitting there watching people clap nowadays. The Happy Clappers ... well there will be 40 thousand of them soon enough, all bused in .... window lickers????
I can't remember the last game I actually enjoyed. The whole package that is, from the journey to the game, a bit of banter and a few drinks after. It could have been Grays v Welling a few years ago ... but I cant remember really.
Question Time was quite interesting last night. A bit of a debate about freedom of speech. It's actually amazing to see the difference in peoples opinions on such subjects.

It's cold outside
There's not be so much activity on the Charlton pink oboe list since Auntie got her left tit caught in the mangle. Dandy Murphy this, Dandy Murphy that ... blimey I bet he's not had it so good.
You know what Dandy Murphy doesn't want to play for my club. Yah boo sucks ... I actually paid good money to go and watch that idiot. So as Chicago Addick says get out those white hankies and baby dummies and give it some on Sunday.
I did a spin class today. It's been a week or so since I sat on the fake bike ... it's not pleasant.
Only a few days and I'll have a washing machine again. It's been hell over the last week or so. I find it remarkable that people turn up to the laundrette in their brand spanking new BMW's/ Mercs. Priorities are wrong I believe.
On the advise of Mr MC I purchased In the House of Love, Dimitris latest Discoesque offering. There do indeed seem to be some corkers on there, Sylvester, Terry Callier, even the Originals. That'll get the head nodding.
It seems that all this Murphy nonsence or indeed nonsense (sorry to go back to this) has stolen the Supporters Directors thunder. I hope you all voted for Vince, as I need him to give me a competative or more appropriately competitive price on some plastering.

Now for something much more important ...
Right ... lets be a bit more positive. It's February, which means a little over 2 and a half months until the London Marathon. For me, I can't think of anything worst than running 26 odd miles with a group of people dressed up as Pirates/ Furry Animals. But some people find the need , and who am I to disagree with them.
It appears that one such individual is Charlton Supporting author Mick Collins. He who penned the Charlton classic, The Rise and Rise of Charlton Athletic: From Portakabins to Porto Captains . Mick is running for the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, which benefits young athletes who have the talent, but not the basic funding, to reach the highest levels of the sport. When the Olympics come to London in 2012, there will be British athletes competing for medals as a direct result of the help given to them by the fund. So its; a damn fine thing he does.
Please take a look at the site ... and if there is one thing you should do just donate a few shillings. As Alan Curbishley says when he is thinking of bringing Radistan Kishishev on, GO ON ... YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

It's hard some times ...
I think the realisation of Charlton fans hit home last night. Realisation that in fact we are a tad shite, and have been punching above out weight. We are quite luck that at the moment, we aren't involved in a relegation dog fight, but that may what we get over the next few months. It's 12 points and counting. We recently bought Marcus Bent off of Everton for a rounded £2 million. On last nights performance he looks to be worth £2. Give him a chance they say, why I say.
At 11:55 last night as I lay in bed my mobile phone clicked into life. A text message. It sort of woke me up, but hey it might be important. Nope, Murphy off to Spudz. Sod that, couldn't that have waited until this morning?
I wanted to actually be possitive about Charlton but a fairly inept performance and the Murphy saga put paid to that. I might have to form my own Independent Supporters Club ...
I've already written about Murphy elsewhere, but I'm going to put it up here. Then I'm going to concentrate on more important issues.
"Danny Murphy has departed, some of us are crying into our cocoa. What we are left with is Bryan Hughes, Rad Kishishev, Matt Holland ... no flare, no guile, no creativity ... that's what should make you cry. Last night was typical of Charlton's home games over the last 18 months, minus a goal for the oppo. Do we want to see some of the beautiful game ... I know I do.Anyway back to Murphy. He signed on 10 August 2004 and left on 31 Jan 2006. That is approx 76 weeks or 532 days. I don't know how much he was paid but we can be sure it was at least £20k a week, so let's break it down. At £20 k a week that's £2857 per day. Over the time at Charlton he was paid approx £1,520,000. On the performance front we can right off the whole of the 2004-05 season because "our" Danny was still settling down; he came from a mill town ooop North so wasn't used to cars, electricity and pirate radio. At the start of this season he set the world on fire. Well he had able allies in Smerts and Kish who did his tackling for him and he was touted as an England "Star"!!!!!He didn't get picked for the three lions and then resorted to petulance, see the Arsenal game, inept performances Everton and has now driven his 4x4 off to North London. So all in all he received £1,520,000 for about 5-6 worthwhile performances. If I had performed that badly in my day job, I'd have been shown the door. We can only hope that's what happened. However I doubt it.What we need is some creativity. We have to wait for the summer now, and that'll be another year down the pan. I don't enjoy sitting in the cold watching what was on offer last night. So me I can't wait for the World Cup, to see Brazil, Argentina, the cynical beautiful game.Ps: If Danny Murphy had all the extras in his car, DVD player, Sat Nav, etc, etc and paid say £60k for it .... that's the equivalent in me driving round in a £1,185 old banger. Makes you think"
As Smudge pointed out the chances are that he was on more than a ball part 320k a week. But I just highlighted that here. In fact double it to nearly three million and it puts it all into perspective. I don't think booing him on Sunday would do anything. I think we need to do it the spanish way. Everyone take along a white handkerchief and wave it whenever the idiot gets the ball. We should also play the ELK in midfiled and give him an order to kick Murphy, and keep on doing it.
I'll be back on later with some better news.
