After the Lord Mayors show ...

Well the dust has settled but I'm still smarting from Saturdays match. A complete lack of direction is what I'm now feeling. But it was summed up in an email to the CAFC list by Richard Hunt. It actually captures most of what I was feeling, and I hope he doesn't mind if I reprint it here. I'm not going to try and pass the thoughts off as mine, but it's definately how I was feeling ...

" After 72 hours ... to recover from travelling all that way to see such a mauling, (Richard travels from the Czech Republic) I am more than ever convinced that we should seriously try to get Parker back.

When I compare Saturday to last Boxing Day the difference was that then we had three Charlton players who took to the field believing they were every bit as good as the Chelsea players: Parker, di Canio and Jensen. Those three inspired the rest. On Saturday I didnt see that from anyone (with the exception of the Elk in the first half, and Thomas before he was clattered by Terry, in a challenge every bit as bad as Koncheskys red card job against Chelsea two years ago ). Steve Brown said afterwards on GLR that after the third goal "the body language was dreadful". Danny Murphy is a good player whose confidence is shot to pieces. Matt Holland does a lot of good work that we rarely notice, but as somebody mentioned to me on Saturday, his nickname at Ipswich was Mr CleanShorts, and his disciplinary record is almost too good for a central midfielder. Parker got his shorts dirty, and drove at the Chelsea defence too. Neither Holland nor Murphy managed that at all.
We were noted for being the team that respected nobody and had a go at all. We have completely lost that. Somebody mentioned that we were in their faces for ten minutes. Were we hell. It took more than a minute before we even touched the ball. We lost that kind of self belief the moment we lost Parker. Of the new signings, what Murphy, Jeffers, Rommedahl and Hughes have in common is that none of them seem to believe they deserve a place in a top Premiership starting line up. In Hughes case, he is probably right, with the other three, I don't know.
Rommedahl did some deeply unimpressive things when he came on, but he also set off on a run which everyone else just stood still and admired.

We seem to have no idea what to do with him, what formation he fits into. That cannot be all his fault."

There you go. There's no point in dwelling on that ONE match but it did show the general direction we have gone in a year. Well in a little bit less than a year to be honest and it's not good.

I finally got the car jump started last night. If I was a car I wouldn't start on cold nights either. And I nearly got in and embarked on a 3 hour journey. I say nearly ... I mean nearly but I think I would have got in trouble.

I'm planning on doing about 3 hours of ironing tonight. The pile is getting bigger and bigger ... Oh I do live on the edge.

Party pics ...

Right I said that I would put them up on the site and I have. Now if they can view them in Brazil they'll hold another party. It was Isabelas 10th birthday party, and it rocked, as good as any tenth birthday party could.

Run Wabbitt ...

So the Run London 10km run has come and gone. I got as far as moving off of the setee, holding up the illuminated top so see if it glowed and then lying back down. Sod that I though ...

So shall I talk about Charlton? Shall I try to be as optimistic as I was on Friday? Should I try to work out what Danny Murphy's role in the team is? Should I bollox ...

Yes, yes ... Charlton weren't good, Chelsea were ... but I could always say that Charlton would play with a bit of passion, even if they couldn't string three passes together. Passion never reared it's ugly head on Saturday. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I've seen some pretty dire Charlton performances over the years. This wasn't one of them but when you add up the collective wages/money paid for the individual against the team output must come right at the top for worst performances. The programme, whoops matchday magazine has been doing a top ten performance list match on match and on Saturday reminded us of the 4-3 victory at Villa back in 99, when Brown-eye went in goal and Dandy Mills scored that winner with a minute to go. That was the match when I was dressed as a Pearly King and Tim Chick buggered up his knee. Anyway what would we have given for that team performance on Saturday. Mark Kinsella in midfield, Clive Mendonca up front. What we got was Danny Murphy strolling around in the middle of the park, refusing to run or close down his man and Shaun Bartlett so isolated up front it wasn't funny. Yes, match report after match report tells us how good Chels were, even AQITES tell us how Chel will win the league, but what I don't get is how people have had the audacity to question Jason Euells ability, commitment when Murphy is still in the team. I say get him out now, I'll actually volunteer to drive his back up North, as long as he keeps his mouth shut, put Euell in the centre of midfield, get Rommadhal playing of the wing, get Franny up with Bartlett and go find a decent, pacy centre half. Now that's not too hard is it. It's lucky that Norwich and West Brom are so bad, otherwise we may be in trouble. A forty thousand capacity stadium my ass.

I watched "A Day after tomorrow" yesterday. It was a great Sunday morning film, big sweeping special effects shots and a good, basic plot. If you're looking for an easy going film then this is the one. Or you could go and see the new Bridget Jones flick. It may even make you propose to your gal, or even a random gal. Go on you know you want to.

Well, I've definitely got the holiday blues at the moment. It's all too dark for me ... dark in the morning, dark at night ... what's that all about??? I need another break, okay maybe not a break, I just need to chill ...

I've decided not to go to Palarse on Sunday. I'm going to keep my £35 firmly in my pocket. I'm going to watch on Sky, shout at the inept performance, moan when we lose and then feel better that I'm not out of pocket.

I'm thinking of shaving off my hair. Zip it off and start again ... come on

Sunny Delight ...

No not that pseudo-orange/ vegetable oil drink but outside. It's sunny. It's the first time I've seen the sun in months. Well not totally true, but in this country at least.

It's football tomorrow. I actually can't wait. To see Fortune get the run around from Gudjonson, and Kishishev from Lampard, what more would I want. I may have to wear my lucky pants. Hang on, I actually don't own a pair ...

I was meant to be doing that Run London 10km thingy on Sunday. I entered and then forgot about it. But it's just dawned on me how serious this thing is meant to be. I've done no actual training either ... which is fun, so I think I could run about 6-7km before I hit the wall. Then what??? Wabbling all around Bermondsey, not a pretty sight. So sod it. I think i'll stay in the warmth of my front room and watch the Liverpool/ Arse match.

The Southend gal ... well Shoeburyness really is pregnant. She's just told me. Congratulations I say, and I mean it, but that would be the 3 or 4th time wouldn't it?? But what do I know!!!!

I'm not sure if I have said congratulations to Graeme and Nicky on the birth of Tabitha. I know it was a bit hairy, but it would be if you had a monkey ... boom, boom. No, seriously congratulations, and isn't it about time Kev sowed his seed, just to prove he ain't a jaffa!!!!!

I'm still trying to download some of the Brasil pics, and waiting on a few multimedia messages to arrive so I can post the pictures. The ones of Isabellas tenth bithday party are quality.

Preparing for the party ... and when I say party I mean party. Tom and myself rock in the kitchen ...  Posted by Hello

Well I finally downlaoded a pic ... it's the view from my bedroom window in Vigigal. Note the Sheraton Hotel on the right hand side, thats where UManU stayed when they played in the World Club Championship a few years back ... Posted by Hello

Return of the Prodigal Son ...

Well, I'm back in work mode, seriously pished at the cold weather and looking forward to his return on Saturday. Whether he'll play or be on the bench god only knows, well that what Jose calls himself ... but who am I to argue.

Charlton v Chelsea is always a fixture I look forward to. I have a few Chels mates and it was always good putting them in their place. But what now? Now they have all the benjamins, the moolah, louies, rubles ... what now??? Well we have JJ and Kish, come on you know they can do it.

Before I left to go to Brazil I complained one last time to three about the shite phone I had. And would you believe it they changed they model. They gave me an LG thingy, that bleeps every time you do something. But it works. I was on the phone for about 45 mins last night and it didn't drop the call once. Well I lie, but I dropped the phone so that don't count. So if you need to complain do it long and hard. Keep on complaining because eventually you will get what you want.

I'm considering getting a cleaner. I just can't be bothered to do it myself. Is that a bit extravagant? The flat is a tip, and I just sit down and do nothing. At least if I had someone coming round to do it I might make an effort, I wouldn't want them thinking I was a lazy, helpless git would I!!!!

Oh an Welling United are off the bottom of the league. They've actually won a couple of matches, whooopeeee. But they did lose to Dartford in the Kent Cup, somethings never change.

I'm trying to download some more pics of the Brazil trip. But I'm not too sure how many peeps would want to see me thonged up on the beach. They are great shots though.

It's a month to go before Christmas. I was speaking to someone yesterday who had just put their decorations up. Is that a bit too soon? Isn't it a bit tacky to do that? I usually do it a couple of weeks before the day, and take them down just in the new year. Seems about right to me. But then again ... who am I to complain. Northerners eh ...

Come on Charlton ... we gotta take those Russians to the cleaners this week. Make him eat his giant truffle ... come on lets stuff it up em' ...

Now this is what you call a bar !!!! Can you spot the fridge ... ?

Back in blighty ....

Mengo v Fogo ... and Curbo thinks he's got it hard!!!!!

Well that's it. Nearly three weeks to debauchery finished. No email, no blogging, no racist chanting ... blimey, what's that all about. I can totally understand Ronnie Biggs. It's all a bit weird really. Having spent a quality weekend at Southport then rushing home to pack and setting of to Brasil. I didn't have time to think about a 13 hour flight, or how wasted I actually was, or who I might miss ... well there were certain people of course. But now I'm back and it all seems like a thousand years ago.

I was staying on the outskirts of Vigigal. One of the flavelas close to Leblon and Ipanema. We actually walked into Vigigal and the truck load of Police to have breakfast each morning and where able to stand out on the balcony most evenings trying to place where the sound of the bullets where coming from. But it wasn't that bad.

We, being Timbo ... eventually Mushy and myself Hic, stayed in the White House overlooking the Sheraton.

It's quite mad how fitness conscious the Brazilians actually are, compared to the fat sods that were on my train this morning ... but maybe my holiday blues have kicked in.

No, they haven't given JJ an extended contract ... thank fcuk ... it's the bush that won it. Come on we all love bush.

Just took possession of my new MP3 player by Creative ... and it does what it says on the tin. Loads of music, loads of music. I doubt whether I'll be able to listen to all of them anyway.

Addicked to your love ...

So the Addicks have done the right thing and let Michael Turner sign for Brentford. Now the lad can concentrate on carving out a career for himself. But they are still up in arms, some of the mailing list lot. We've let one of our best young lads just walk away, how can we let him go when we need a centre half. Oh please, Michael Turner wasn't the answer to our problems ... so just let the lad get a good contract at a club that he may be able to make an impression at.

I think my days of flirting with the Sun are at an end. Yes, I know I should never have have bought it in the start, just for what they did re the Hillsborough stuff. But today I think has taken the biscuit. And for once I'm stumped for words. It's the old Stan Collymore story. Yes, we all know what Stan is about, but I just don't get the utter contempt the Sun and the public have for him. I just don't get it. They continually go on about him being a woman beater. Yep, we'll tick that one off ... then there's the dogger issue, but that's all about consenting adults surely, then we have the Ireland fight. So Stan has a book out, his publicists wants maximum exposure ... Yes, we get that as well. But why the utter hate? Gazza, whoops sorry G8 wrote about his serial victimisation of his wife and he is a cheeky chappy. Those that know, know ... but I just don't get it.

Yep, I'm up North this weekend. It will be nice to see some of the people ... they know who they are, you get no name checks here.

I invested in the Soul Heaven presents Jazzy Jeff "In the House" CD yesterday. Quality. Starting with Papa was a Rollin Stone through to I got Rhythm, this has had me dancing around the office all day. Go get yourself some ... you know it makes sense.

Swing low ...

It was always on the cards wasn't it. Stan "The Van" and the Bath Rugby players. All out on the pish in Dublin, all slagging each other off. Do we really want to know, do we really care? It's the age old football vs rugby thingamy. You know Rugby, remember ... England won the World Cup last year, but nothing since. It's in all the papers ... Colly bragging about his exual conquests with Kirsty Gallacher ... you would though, wouldn't you?

This getting dark in the evenings thing really takes the buscuit. I left work last night, it was dark, it was raining and I didn't have a smile on my face. In fact it does put you on a right downer. Well, I've shaken out all the cobwebs, brushed myself down ... and I'm looking good. I might even be going on holiday.

The young reserves drew with Pompey last night. Word is that although we looked accomplished we had no cutting edge. I have heard that somewhere before ... cutting edge, don't make me laugh. One of the Tottenham boys I know will be out of rehab for Saturdays game ... I was going to suggest I meet him in the pub, unfortunately I am up north ... shame eh!!!!

Talking of going up North. I found a pair of trousers/ Jeans in the cupboard that I had forgotten I had. Pink and black stripes ... which I'll wear with a pair of winkle pickers, but what can I wear up top? A black shirt maybe, tuxedo jacket ... I'm not too sure at the moment.

I turned on GMTV this morning ... (Yes, I know) they were having a telephone poll re who do you want to win the American elections ... Bush or Kerry. I did sit there scratching my head. So who would be phoning a premium telephone line to register their preference. Not half the fools I say on "Britains Hardest Village" on Sky One last night. They would have had trouble using a phone.

Hair today .....

The receptionist has said my new haircut makes me look younger ... ya boo sucks ...

Everything comes to those that wait ...

That's my advise to the old shot shy Spurs forwards with their game coming up this weekend.

A piece of advise, take a look at Page 3 of the Sun today. Now you would, wouldn't you!!!!

So Bill Curbishley listens to Talk Sport, and he even phones it up. Well he did last night, when he called up defending his bro. He was banging on about trying to contain his anger. Charlton don't deserve him. Have I missed something here. Yes Curbs paid for things on his own credit card 10 years ago, but he now has a multi million pound contract. I wouldn't mind some of that ... and I wouldn't put Kishishev in midfield.

It was nice to hear from the Boustani last night. It seems like she has gone through the ringer, put dancing will be on the agenda come the weekend, you'd better get those dancing feet in gear.

I spent Sunday afternoon watching 3 episodes of Roots. Remember Roots ... if you don't I suggest you go watch it. If you do, well go watch it again. It's an unbelievable story, and although most of it isn't true ... well so what.

So, did anyone spend Saturday night watching Strictly Come dancing/ ballroom. I had a call from my Mum yesterday asking who had been voted out. She then went on to say that there was a lack of TV programmes for the older viewer, and she didn't want to watch Sex, drugs and rock n'roll. Fair point I thought, as I switched over to Men and Motors.

My cowboy boots arrived. They don't fit. So there we have the perils of ebay. Does anyone fit a size 8.5? Bern? Kev?

The deed is done ...

Whooosh as they say, I've only gone and had it cut. As my hair lay lying on the kitchen floor, I was ... well a bit tearful. It's only taken me a year to grow it. But it looks so much better ... well that's what da gal say ... !!!!

Just back from the Valley. Another defeat, I say another defeat but our first in the league at home this year. But I would say have Charlton ever gone away and bossed a game as much as Boro actually did. They are a good team, but we should have stuck it up 'em. Oh well ... at least I don't have to go to a match for 3 weeks ... oh what joy.

I'm still waiting on my Cowboy boots to turn up. That's the problem with the Royal Mail. It's just not reliable ... so three days later I'm still waiting. Roll on Monday.

Colin Montgomerie ranked 17 or 70th ... oh the wrong answer. I can't believe I'm watching Ant and Dec. Surely we weren't that bad?

One week and counting ...

Right, first up ... the club have announced that they are charging Chelsea £45 for the pleasure. How good is that? Forty five squids ... I might try and sell mine on ebay!!! That's a joke ... a joke right.

And poor old Brian Cole, he has been sacked by the club for making disparaging comments aimed at the Palarse supporters. He actually announced Palarse as "Palarse" and "them lot" but I was too busy shouting abuse to listen what he actually said. I'm just listening to Brian Coles web based Charlton radio show and some muppet interviewed in the Rose of Denmark before the Newcastle game said he wouldn't play Lisbie because he can't stand the guy. Quality, absolute quality ... can't stand the guy, yep I wouldn't play Shearer or Henry because I just don't get their sense of humour and I don't like the fact that they can't stand drum and base. I can't stand the guy. Whoooopy doooo ...

Well it's friday, and it's finally haircut day. I'm still between the devil and the deep blue sea. But I'm looking towards getting it cut off. Sod it.

It's 30 years since the famous Rumble in the Jungle fight. Thirty years. I can't remember watching it live, I'm only 27 you realise but I have watched the fight since and indeed the documentary, "When we were Kings." Now that was when boxing was boxing ...

I'm thinking of getting a new larger capacity MP3 player. I'm moving towards the 30GB Creative Zen, but hey I need your input. Any thoughts ... ?

And then there was none ...

Right ... back to normality!!!!

To quote the Charlton website ... "Charlton's dismal cup record continued as they were beaten by 10-man Crystal Palace. Goals either side of half-time by Dougie Freedman and Sandor Torghelle were enough to cancel out Hermann Hreidarsson's early opener, despite the visitors playing the last 20 minutes without Hungarian Torghelle.

To make matters worse, it was not even the Eagles' strongest side ..."

To make matters worse??? Make matters worse ... now you're having a laugh. Another seasons cup run down the swanny. I feel sorry for all the muppets that went to Grimsby. What was the point in that???

We were absolute abysmal. Totally inept, totally crap ... should I go on. Inspector Sands calls it Black Wednesday. Well it's been a black week, you were at Anfield ... come on, run with it. At some point this is meant to be entertainment. It's not been entertaining since Boxing day. Remember that when we turned Chelsea over 4-2. Well it's now November, give or take a few days, and can anyone tell me an actual game that we turned up for this fiscal year. Come on ...

Oh and here's a piece of advise. Back up all your phone numbers ... and delete all your pictures before you send it back to the makers. You know it makes sense.

Did I mention that I've bought some cowboy boots? Well I'm hoping to receive them in the next few days, so once I do ... I'll put a pic up. Live the life ... don't fight it!!!!

Right, I need to go and drown my sorrows ...

Jeeeezzzzz ......

Q: How many elephants can you get in a mini?

A: Four ... two in the front, two in the back.

Q: How do you know if you've had two elephants in your fridge?

A: Footprints in the butter.

Q: How do you know you've had four elephants in your fridge?

A: There's a mini parked outside ...

What about Harry Cripps?

So you want old school? You want the blog about my train journeys, Coleens a$$ ... and no football. Well read it an weep, it ain't going to happen.

We've got those spotty Nigels tonight, Chrystal Palarse. They seem up for it, and say that we are not. Well listen up, we are.

Talking about my train journeys, I had a slight change this morning. I took the car over to Charlton Heights for the journey back tonight. So I was able to sample the delights of the Greenwich line, as I got on at Westcombe Park. A different type of commuter as what you usually get from Hither Green and Lewisham. You still get the peeps who had too much garlic last night, the people who won't move down the train, but you also get the mob who won't make eye contact and won't say boo to a goose. There we were crammed into the 8:02 that actually arrived at 8:16, with some sort of backpacker woman type thing sitting in the door well. Sitting on a back pack on a packed train. No one said any thing, no one took her to task. Well if it had been Hither Green it would have happened. They would have been pulling her to her feet. So why didn't I intervene? Well it's not my route. I don't want to make a spectacle .... you know where I'm coming from.

So its the next round of the League Cup. We are home to the surrey clowns Palarse. What more could you ask for? A repeat of the Anglo-Italian Cup match a few years ago ... a nice 4-1 victory and Chris Armstrong to be banished to the dressing rooms early doors. Now we are talking. I just hope that the players get it. I hope that Herman tells Franny, Danny and Dennis how important this is. Sod getting to Cardiff. This is the one. This is the one that will get my hairs tingling. So it's an early meet with Smudge et al, a few beers ... a nice quiet train journey to the Valley, a stroll to the Pub, then let games commence.

Supposedly I'm not allowed to speak about football on here. So I won't comment on the Millwall stuff last night. Well the only pictures shown where of Liverpool fans, the ones who ripped the seats out and knocked over their own disabled fans. So where's the issue here ... can't Liverpool be blamed? No because of what Boris said ... you get me.

Right, I won't go into too much detail about John Peel, but you have to show some respect where respect is due. When I was growing up, I wasn't into indie (shmindy) - the Undertones, the Smiths etc, etc ... so I never really listened to him. But he did his stuff, and he did it well ... god speed John.

Here's one for Inspector Sands. My boss has just diagnosed me with semi-autistic witterings, infact it's called Asperger's Syndrome, also known as Asperger's Disorder or Autistic Psychopathy, is a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) ... so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

My tune of the day: Big Mistake - Alexander Hope

We are the North Stand cupboard end !!!

Well it's all kicked off over on Inspector Sands comments board. Berrand Bossu, Wyn, Colin, they've all bitten the bullet and put their collective two penneth into the Curbs debate. It actually makes interesting reading. There has been some of the "Curbs Out" brigade back out and on it. Well he has been here for 13 years, we have just lost at Anfield ... we are staring at a blank canvas. Well maybe, maybe NOT!!! We've got the makings of a good team ... roll with it. A few tweaks here and there. But the chances of me going to another away game this season ... hang on Newcastle in Feb is down in the book. I'll see you there.

So as the dust settles on the pizza throwing, I can't help but laugh. I know that the Arse are meant to drink warm veg soup before and after a game, but where do the pizzas come into it. Are they looking to get an endorsement off of Dominos?

Page 14 of the Sun. Jesus has been named the number one Black icon of all time. Hang on surely it should have been David Beckham!!!!!!

Back at the Boxing Academy (Monday night Channel 5) Wendell comes out as being 28!!!! Now hang on, he's been telling me for years that he's 27. How does that work? It's a good show though, and they even got Frank Warren to put in an appearance. Now that must have been some discussion.

X is the spot ...

Well they ... no I mean he voted Roberta out of the show. We all know that she shouldn't have gone, it should have been the old bird or Peters and Lee. But hey, that the British public for you, they will vote to keep the chaff in. I would say that I thought the old Soul singers where going to get the push ... but then again what do I know.

I think I've finally got over Saturdays debacle. We got a right old pasting. Roll on Wednesday ... yeah right. I'm still chuckling about the Arse game. They got stitched up by Riley good and proper. The Rio incident, Nistelrooys two footed challenge on Cole, the Rooney dive and all we get to read is that Fergie got covered in Vegetable soup.

I bought some boots. Yeah I just need to get a sheriffs badge and holster. I'm still deliberating as to wether I should get all my hair cut off. And shave down my goatee.

I've decided I need to take more pics of stuff as I go about my business ... so watch this space.

Right ... look at these two pics. The first one taken in 2003 at Carnival and the second taken 2004 at Carnival. I look a tad more refreshed in the first pic ... I just don't get it !!!!!

One year ago and look at my hair ... I'm definately thinking of reverting back to a neat, closly cropped styleeee .... with matching trimmed goateee ...

Bloody hell ... what was I thinking when I got my stylist to do that to my hair??? I hope it was raining ... maybe I should shave more ....

North vs South ...

Well I've watched that UManU vs Arse ... what's it all about???

WHINING, BITCHING ... MOANING AND THAT WAS JUST ME ...

There's one word for it ... "Pants"

I sat through that crock yesterday. In reality we could have been 3, no 4-0 down by half-time. But we weren't. Then you get to thinking, maybe we could sneak it!!!

Then I turned over and fell out of bed.

Totally inept, frustrating, totally non descript. We had no shots on target, why no shots at all, and if it was a boxing match it would have been stopped.

I'll go into a few more details tomorrow, but the fact is we are out on our feet.

My tune of the day: Magnetism - Eugene Record

Alien vs Predator ...

Or should that be JJ vs Lisbie? And maybe Franny can play the Scouse version of Alfie. Ok, maybe not ... I was just running with it.

I'm still thinking over the Cowboy boot issue. Although it's nice to know that Chicago Addick would like to be a bit more like me on the music front. I would say that it's one of my vices. I leave home and put my mp3 on, I get to the office and bang the music straight on. Maybe a bit of Blaze, a mix by Kravit, some Al Green ... or even some slushy Luther. You know where I'm coming from all you romantics out there.

The debates just got going about our Centenary celebrations. Inspector Sands did a good piece about it. But what do you really expect from Charlton? The whole concept that we could have a well run centenary celebration is laughable. It's a closed shop, or superstore if you will. Even up to having the VIP Director on the committee. You remember the VIP Director who runs the Maidstone and the Weald supporters club, who makes sure they have as many tickets as they want, and in reality wants Charlton to move to lock stock and Vinny Jones down to a green belt site off of the A20. Now how ideal would that be? The latest info is that the main branch of the supporters club, you know the one in Charlton, based at the Valley is now being called the Greenwich branch. That's so they all have equal billing. I don't get it myself. There should be one supporters club but local groups if people want to get together to have a beer and a pie. But to give priority for tickets because you know the VIP Director is ... well you know what it is. On another VIP Director issue. Having read the CAFC Website it appears her goal is to raise money to get some gates errected. Hmmmmm ....

So what's the score with old Prince Harry? The young playboy blah, blah ... smacked a photographer, but only in the form of defence, after being hit in the face with a camera. Oh well Goldie looking chain watch out ... there'a a new monster on the block.

I had a bad hair day today!!!! After a year of growing it, I was close to just getting it cut off. A number one all over. Come on what do you think? Should I bite the bullet and just get it done. Then again I could go blonde. You know what they say about blondes!!!!

Anyway, have a good weekend, lets all hope for three points on saturday. Me, Ive got Colin Farrell coming over to SHOOT some pool, oh how funny is that. I must go, I've got to put in my expenses.

Great ... it's G8

Well he's only gone and done it!!! Gazza, Paul Gascoigne, wants to be called G8. G8 I ask you. I can see it now. Hartlepool announce their new manager live on Sky. Here he is ... Mr G8 ... as the Monkey hangers all begin to chant "G8's blue and white army" ...

I'm looking out the window at a lovely sunny day. Maybe a little windy but you can't have it all.

It must have been a sunny 70 minutes for Francis last night. Mr Jeffers banged in two goals for the ressies and you would think it would put him in a good possition to start on Saturday. Yep it's at Anfield against Boris' red and red army ... and you would imagine that ol' Franny would get loads of stick. Which would make him "Up for it", which would make him play on the edge ... and be a little dangerous. Well that's my way of thinking, so expect Raaaaaaadostin Kiiiishishev to come back into the team.

Here's a question ... ????

Am I too old for Cowboy boots??

Blazin ...

Now I seem to have missed something here!!! We have all turned into Chav-tastic's. They are even debating it on the Charlton e-mail list, well actually they are talking about Dartford, it's restaurants and Supermarkets.

The Sun has a Chav body language guide, and they have put the fist to the chest in there. Now excuse me, that's been a thing to do for years. I'm not going to get into a debate about origins etc, etc ... but you know where I'm coming from. They've even put "West-side" in there, but I thought that was Ali G???

Here's a question for you. Does anyone know a man with a big ladder? I've got guttering problems, and in reality it would take 5 seconds to sort out, but I can't be paying over the odds. It appears that I have a plant growing in the guttering at the top of the flat, and so when it rains the water cascades down onto the conservatory roof. It's not good at 3 in the morning, I can tell you. Did I get back to sleep ... did I fcuk ...

I actually watched some of the Champions league last night. I was flicking between Real Madrid and UManU. How poor were they? I don't get it. Sir Al (not our one the old Scottish red nosed one) is still talking the talk in comparing his lot to the Arse. But they appear to be as far apart as they have been in years at the mo. But saying that, UManU would still turn us over 4-0. Oh I wish I wasn't so pessimistic.

You know what ... a week isn't such a bad length of time!!! I'm still walking with a spring in my step, even if the pressures of life sometimes bring me down.

**Stop press** Tonight, live on TV Paul Gascoigne (Gazza) will be unveiling his new moniker. We have 3 to choose from, PG,G8 or PJ. What I want to know is, if he goes with PJ will Jimmy FiveBellies be called Duncan?

Oh poor old Mutu. It seems like they have all come out of the woodwork. He even sucked some blood. You have to put that on your list Kev, things to do before you are 30!!!!

Oh ... I forgot to mention the new reality show on Channel 5 that started Monday. Boxing Academy takes some wannabe boxers and trains them up to an acceptable amateur standard. The London leg is being shot at Repton, so it was nice to see Wendell doing his best in matching wooly hat, joggers, trainers combo. They do say that TV puts 20llbs on you ... and he's only 27!!!!

X Facted ...

I still can't get over the fact that Lloyd got voted out on Saturday. By far the best singer, he didn't fit the criteria of Simon Cowells dream team. Instead we have Verity ... !!!

It was good to see old Jermain get a run down from the boss after last nights lackluster performance down in Pompeyland. Oh how my heart bleeds for Jermain who is having a difficult time. Aren't we all mate, aren't we all.

It's strange how long a week is. Last week, it was all expectation, but this it's all .... well you get me. Tune in to Anfield on Saturday tea time to see the next thrilling episode of Addicks on tour. Four goals, five ... yeah right. News just in is that Kev is back in blighty this weekend, and has a hire car. If you need a lift anywhere, especially to see the match ... call him. Call him what though, I DON'T KNOW?

It's good to know that people are still reading my ramblings. Thanks to Jeff who said that this was all a bit late in the day. Blimey, I've been a bit busy and did a Body Max down the gym. Sorry mate, I'll do it the night before in future.

I found an old pile of Christmas cards last night. You know when you have your annual tidy round the flat. There they were gathering dust on top of the video. I would like to know why I kept them? Why do I keep loads of the stuff I keep? It actually amazes me ...

Harry Hill doesn't look like Mush !!!!

That's what I said anyway. Mush believes that he looks like Harry Hill, even though he is ten times bigger and Asian. It's like saying that Kev looks like one of the Kumars.

I had a web page outburst this morning. How's the website going was the question. Oh, I can't be arsed with it was the reply. It's becoming more of a chore. They looked at me like I had spat in their breakfast. I had to apologies, but I don't think they believed me.

I seem to have been doing a lot of apologizing lately!!! I seem to have gone of the rails, and I don't really feel myself. Well not in the same way that Kev likes to do. I've been a bit down, which isn't like me ... but ho hum, as they say in ho hum land.

So the football. We had to endure the Alan Shearer show again, as he snarled his way round the pitch, using his head, his elbow, his personality to keep the man down. It isn't just me that sees it, but I just wonder why no pundit has the balls to state it. Shearer thinks he is above the law, the law of football. What a spiteful little man he is.

Anyway, I thought that Danny Murphy benefited from having Matty Holland next to him. They were combative, and I'm sure Danny is looking forward to next Saturdays match at Anfield. How they gave our goals as an own goal, is laughable. The ball was on it's way into the net. But hey it's Lisbie and Charlton we are talking about, not Shearer and Newcastle.

I don't get the Centenary celebrations!!!! There were in fact none at all. Strange.

Did I say how funny I thought Harry Hill was on Saturday. That's Harry Hill not Mush.

I've been doing a lot of apologizing recently. SORRY, I've already said that.

I've just worked out that I am a sad, lonely individual ... no sorry that's not me ... that's Alan Shearer. Oh and it's Chrystal Palarse in the Cup next week. You know, I can't wait for that one.

Anyway ... SORRY I've got to pop along know ... work to do.

Well I used to like it back in the day. Now all we get is Soccer AM ...

It's been a weird day, lazing on the setee, I actually watched some Rugby, both Union and League.

Hero in a half shell ...

So tell me this? When someone treads on your foot on a train why don't they turn and say sorry? Why do they have to feign "Oh that wasn't really a foot" and look away. It's raining, it's packed, the central heating is on and Mr clumsy foot treads on my nu shoooz, he looks away, I huff ... the train grinds to a halt, he does it again ... "blap" straight on my tootsie ...

So what do you think I did? Answers eh, on the proverbial postcard.

It's another week gone, and we have some football at last. It seems like a lifetime since we took a thrashing at the Arsenal, but now we can concentrate on the Toons. No not Jessica Rabbit, but Alan Shearer and Craig Bellamy. I'm sure they would make a good alternative to Whilly Coyote, or Roadrunner, but what do I know.

I may be playing a bit of football tonight!!!!

Yes I know you all stepped back in amazement. I had a call on Wednesday from an old friend, Easton. Some of the lads are having a game of 5 a side over at Borough for old time sake. This is the group that used to play in Covent Garden a fair few years ago, and then spend all night in the Spot getting merry. I'm a bit worried that it's outside though. I can't see me wanting to run around in the rain, even if it's a good idea to start with. I'll have to wait and see.

I've just been reading the story in the Metro of that woman who spent £600 on a meal then got accused of stealing a spoon. Yeah, I can see it now ...

Who's the daddy ...??

Well I'm saying nothing ... !!!

But I did say I had a good ... no, great day yesterday, and I'm sticking to that. But you know when you wake up the next day and it's like after the Lord Mayors Show ... well at least the rain has stopped and it's a bit sunny.

We've got another televised match on Sunday, against the Toon. The invasion of barcodes falls on Andy Lopata's birthday, and he has arranged a bit of a do. Well I say a do, but I lie. He has booked some tickets for the Carvery before the match. So I can rejoice in some rubbery beef or chicken before watching Shearer put his elbow in Fortunes face. I've seen that script and it's getting a bit boring.

I would say though that I went to a Newcastle match last season, at home to Chelsea and spend a great part of the match just watching Shearer. He walks around, sometimes not running when Newcastle are attacking but generally arriving late. He works the line well and is a bit of a rough house. I say rough house but in reality mean something a bit stronger. Anyway as long as the Sun is out, and oh ... it's just dawned on me ... I'll have to go smart casual. Sod that!!!!

Well I just had some lemon jelly and cream for my lunch. Not very appertising but that's all that was in the fridge. I forgot that I had made a jelly on Monday and it needs eating before the weekend. So a big bowl was just the ticket.

I was going to say thanks for all the comments in the comments section, but it seems like one of the troop has begun to take the proverbial St Michaels. Posting under the name Scott Parker. Oh how funny is that? It's a bit of a rib tickler ... but hey if that's how you want it ... that's how you want it!!!

My, my ... look what I've just found !!! From back in the day ... Oh how I rock.

Reserves in reserve ...

So tell me this ... is it worth giving players like Lloyd Sam, Jerome Thomas and Neil McCafferty an actual run out in the first team? The lads have been putting in relatively good performances over the last few weeks all for no return. They must know that they aren't going to get a look in. But when we can play a Spurs team with Carrick and Brown in midfield and give a good account of ourselves then surely it is time. Lloyd Sam for example must at least get a place on the bench, just to see if he has the temporament.

Okay, maybe it's just me ... !!!

So it's off to Azerbaijan for the world beaters. Well not Becks anyway ... he has more pressing things to worry about with this "Brazen Beautician" to quote the Sun, coming out about his lastest conquest. Good on Vicci who is going to see her in court.

I also have to mention the passing of Christopher Reeves. I'm not one to get to emotinally involved with all these things, but I would say the courage that he showed was something else.

Rest in peace Chris ...

Well winter is definately kicking in. I had the heating on last night and I was still a bit cold. It's grey, miserable, rainy, cloudy, windy ... but you know what ... I'm smiling. Now that must come as a surprise eh. I'm actually in a good mood. It must be something in the water ...

Truely Scrumptious ...

That's what I am ...!!!

Well that's what I tell myself anyway.

Right, it's monday morning the sun is shinning, although a tad windy so it's not that bad. I had a weird weekend I didn't venture out and spent most of it bouncing round the house still putting off all those jobs that I keep putting off. You know like tidying the conservatory up, washing the front windows, although I did hoover and do some ironing. I did my ironing whilst watching a Brett Hart shoot interview on the Wrestling Channel. I rock.

So St George put the dragons to the sword. Well sort of. I though Wales were disappointing, but then again what did we all expect. They did talk the talk, but just couldn't walk the walk. John Hartson, I ask you. He was never really going to trouble Sol and Rio. But as for Michael Owen claiming that goal ... you're 'avin a laff!!! On a side note, Welling Utd are still bottom of the Conference South having succumbed to Grays Athletic 4-2 on saturday. They kicked off at 3 o'clock the same time as the England match and Grays got a gate of 248 peeps. Now to me that seems pointless ... but then again what do I know about it.

I had one of those mornings on the train. Chilled listening to Hippie Torales in the mix my batteries ran out, then I had to change at London Bridge. Some people are so selfish. I got on a train to be met by Mr City Bloke reading his Tory rag with a large suit carries hanging down in the aisle. As the train got more and more packed did he move? Yeah right!!! So everyone was packed tightly into one side of the entrance whilst he read his paper on the other. Big up selecta is what I say, big up selecta.

Something for the weekend ...

I really fancy seeing that film "Saw" but I'm not one for going to horror flicks alone. I like the togetherness you get when your with a young lady ... you know where I'm coming from ... don't you?

I had to laugh about that reality show the Farm. As I've mentioned I've been watching it just to see the interaction of Stan and Rebecca. Well when they showed her and that pig I was tempted to switch over ... but I perservered. I wish I hadn't bothered. I think this was without doubt the worst piece of TV ever shown ... even worst than a Chrystal Palarse match on TV.

So we have England against Wales this weekend. So what I hear you cry. I have to agree. I'm not one to get carried along on the England are going to conqueror the world line, but they should beat Wales! Shouldn't they? Well it will never be easy ... so I expect it to be 0-0.

I'm wearing an original vintage 70's cream jacket today. It rocks. It goes ever so well with a red rosette. Oh the stares on the train this morning as I browsed Living etc, only in America ... right.

Isn't picture messaging the best? I got two nice pictures last night. I would like to publicly state ...

thank you ;)

Young gifted and black ...

No not me, but I could be described as that ... in my humble opinion ... but it was playing over a news article about Black History month that I saw last night. Black history month, now that will send a few shudders down a few spines. What's the point, why do we need it, it's a waste of resources? I've heard it all before ... it's quite disappointing that people think that there shouldn't be an interest in the history of Black people in this country. It's actually part of my make up, so why shouldn't I take an interest?

The England squad were all photographed wearing those "Let's kick racism out of football" teeshirts yesterday. Another cheap marketing ploy? Maybe!! But it's still a major problem if you read what the Spanish National coach, Luis Aragones said to Jose Reyes. It's about Thierry Henry, and I'll let you work it out yourself.

I watched the MOBO's on BBC Tv last night. Am I getting old? Some of those acts, I ask you. I thought Mos Def did a great job in presenting the show, but I'm sure most people weren't down with his actual performance. I loved it, it's more cutting edge than most rapping. Estelle though I don't get, Most Promising newcomer ... yep if you say so.

News in ... Unilever are shutting their Birds Eye frozen food plant in Grimsby next year with the loss of 600 jobs. Seems like there will be trouble on the streets of Grimsby ...

The self preservation society ...

Blimey, I said. I got an email this morning from the CIFC list saying that my page had been linked to the Forever Charlton site. That would mean that more people might want to see the drivel I actually spout, and work out who I am!!! Not a good thought really, I might have to dig out that fur coat so I can look a bit like Sol Campbell. Saying that though I should put up a link to the Forever site as well ...

There's been a lot of talk amongst the Charlton people about giving some of the young lads in reserve a chance. I would say that every time I have seen Lloyd Sam he impresses me, but there's more chance of Charlie Parker coming back than Lloyd getting a look in. After watching a Curbs led Charlton for over a decade we know what to expect.

1. Now we are an established Prem team no untried, untested, young lads can get a look in.

2. No player must be outside his own penalty box when the opponents have a corner, and yes that does include you Dennis.

3. Substitutes will stand on the touchline, stripped for about 10 minutes whilest Curbs and Day stand around scratching their bits.

4. We will sound off about a good cup run but in reality, forget it.

Anyway ... we all know what to expect from Charlton, even though some of us have forgotten. We will never be world beaters, but all we want is a little bit of passion. Try it, you might like it.

After the Lord Mayors show ...

Well how about that for a score? No not the Soapy Nigels, Charlton 3 Chelsea 0. Yep you read that right, but it was the ressies. Indeed Charlton reserves beat Chelsea reserves 3-0. Quality eh ... er well no not really. It was the reserves and the Chelsea team was full of twelve year olds.

I had my hair cut last night. I had a nice normal cut, short sides and front.

Apart from that it was a quiet night. I watched Ghost Ship on dvd ... a bit cheesey but okay for a few hours. I even managed to watch the Sopranos.

Well it's October now, it's autumn and I've come over all S.A.D!!! I need the heat of the sun, the lashing of the sea ... I need a holiday.

Oh, and I've just registered for Run London in November. A 10k road run round Southwark and Canary Wharf ... I don't get it.

Aye Carumba ...

Well that was that!!! Our boys took a hell of a thrashing at the hands of the Arse. It's no consolation how good they are, they we just didn't compete. I've seen us battle there in the past but this was by far the worst attacking performance in years. We had a total of zero shots on target. Zero ... now even CIFC would have had a shot. It started so well, a few bevies in the Gas Light in Finsbury Park, banter with Lopata, Vince, G and Bern. I even ate a bag of peanuts, and I never eat peanuts. Then we had the fun, sitting watching a load of poop with the only entertaining thing being that the Bald Stewards recognised me from last year. I actually left the match 20 minutes from the end. This was the first time I have left a game early since the early 80's, but it was raining, it was all down there end and I was pished. We had a mass exodus back to Arsenal Station then poor old Inspector Sands was left to help an elderly Arse fan who had slipped on the slippery tiles. The rest of us ran off to jump on a train that then got stuck in the tunnel for 25 minutes, oh the joys of North London.

I had a nice relaxing day down at my Mums yesterday. I actually lay on the settee for about 8 hours, watching all sorts of silly TV, like X-Factor and the King and I. I was treated to a nice lunch of a rack of lamb and had a leisurely drive home. It's so annoying driving a Mini on the motorway as all those 4x4's seem like they have their full beams on. But hey ... I'm not moaning.

Did I mention that I pulled a calf muscle on thursday. I kid you not my whole leg is throbbing. That's going to put me out of action for a week or so, but I might go and do some weights on Wednesday. Saying that though, I'm starting the Atkins again for 3 weeks today. Eggs and ham, egg's and ham ... in three weeks I will be Dr Seuess.

Bombay Mix is gonna get ya ...

First things first. Millwall are out of Europe with little more than a passing mention. Or they would have been. It appears that up to 4 of their fans were stabbed over in Hungary. It's a game of football, whatever Bill Shankley said ... it ain't worth it. I was trying to put this into a Charlton perspective. Say we had qualified in 5th place last season and got into Europe. Would you have gone? Damn right you would!!! Hungary away just for a few days, quality. Then the realisation hits home. Eastern Europe, bad boys on mass, this ain't China. It's bad enough going to Kingston upon Hull or Grimsby, but being left to your own devises in a far flung hostile environment. Not what I would have wanted from a European experience. I know a few Millwall people, even class them as friends, and most of my Mums side of the family are all from down the Blue and off of Jamaica Road. So would I have wanted them to go to Hungary and end up like these lads. No I bleedin well wouldn't, so for once I'm going to send a big shout out to the Millwall.

Now onto other things, when do we play Palarse in that Cup????

I was flicking last night, you know flicking between channels and I came across that reality programme - The Farm. I'm hooked. What the bleedin hell is this all about? Rebecca Loos talking about her sexual adventures, Vanilla Ice threatening to land one on Terry Christian, Stan Collymore being voted Farm Manager ... I'm definately going to be tuned in for this one.

Sod the Grand Prix story, the best one I've seen today involves Asda and the fact that they were selling Dr Death costumes in their Hyde store yards from where Harold Shipman had his surgery. Now I shouldn't laugh, but I did ... even though Asda stated that a donation is now being made to victims families. Scotch Egg anyone?

It's another weekend and we have some footie this weekend. I say some footie with tongue very much lodged in my cheek. In fact we go to Highbury/ Library to take on the current Premier League Champions, current league leaders ... and the team who have not lost in something like 47 games. Law of averages and all that!!!!! No I don't think so either ... but lets just give it a go.

Sleepless in Seattle ...

Well more like Hither Green, but I haven't been sleeping properly. Although saying that I did seem to get a good night last night as it was the first time in weeks that my alarm actually woke me up, as oppossed to waking up before the alarm. Oh my body clock.

I was flicking last night between the Chels and the Arse until Glen asked me to come over and upload some AntiVirus software on his PC. Yes I know, it's as about as interesting as watching the Arse but he hasn't got a clue. He's had his PC for two weeks and already he's had it crash, lock him out of AOL and had more spyware on it than I had in 5 years. I can't begin to wonder what he's been looking at!!!

I'm not one to moan but what is it with people on the DLR. They are a different breed. I think it's a Canary Wharf thing but hey.

My 15 inch flat screen monitor ends on ebay in about 2 hours so if you want to get in their quick take a look.

Look what just turned up for me ... who's da man !!!!

Rooney, Schmoony, Looney ...

Well they couldn't have written the script better, could they? Even seeing that smug mug Eamon Holmes on TV this morning brought it on home. He was saying how sorry he was for Evertonians!!! Yeah right. Luckily we haven't had to sit there and watch our Scott do anything at Chelski. He hasn't played a game. Well he did get on as a substitute in one game ... but he doesn't play. From the fringes of the England squad to a has been in 6 easy months, quality mansion though Scotty.

More importantly the Romm scored his first Charlton reserve team goal last night. So he should be ready and waiting to step up at the Library on Saturday, right !!!! Well it ain't gonna happen is it. We'll pack the midfield and sit back allowing the Arse to have all the play. How do I know that? Well I've been to the same game for the last 3 seasons. All for £33 ... oh how I live.

I bought a new swing bin last night. I went to John Lewis to get some black dye and saw a bright pink bin. Now that was me I thought, so went right ahead. I then had the great task of carting it home on the train. Some people are jerks ... !!!!

Right, the Labour Party conference. It's all going down the swanny but somethings I don't get. There was one protest by the dad of a military policeman murdered in Iraq. Murdered was the wording used but wasn't it a war? The chaps son was killed back in June doing his duty. The dad wanted to talk to Tony Blair because he had felt that the brave soldiers were betrayed by their country and he wanted an apology. Can I ask this? How does a soldier become brave ...? If we take away war, guns, bullets, bombs ... could a soldier be brave? Would there be any soldiers? If I went to a careers councillor and was offered the chance of being in the army or an accountant which one would make me feel as though I might get killed doing my job. Answer me that one Rav? Just a few thoughts really ...

We all dream of a team of El Karkouri ...

Well it doesn't go as much as the El Khalej song but I think our team would be a bit better with a load of Karkouris as opposed to El Khalejes.

It wasn't pretty, but it was effective. Four home games, three wins ... one goal conceded and that was Bergers wonder strike. And this was achieved with JJ playing for most of the game. I would have to say that I don't think Arse and his merry Goolies will be quaking in their collective boots though.

What's the point of Bombay Mix? There's a big bag of it on the desk next to mine ... and that's where it's staying.

I was reading the message board on the Southport Weekender website and came across a discussion about the an article/ or review in the latest DJ mag. It was a review of a mix CD by Joe Claussell and Blaze. Well if anyone knows these guys you would know what to expect. It's as easy as ordering meat and two veg. Well anyway the new CD gets absolutely ripped apart by a Ben Edwards, who it seems has no time for Soulful house. Well it's horses for courses really and what our Ben has to say is typical of the music press who know nothing about what they are reviewing.

Ben actually said "At the risk of being lynched, tortured and left to rot in Louie Vegas basement , there's just something about soulful house that makes you want to shake the dj by the ears and tell them to grow some fooking balls. Its definitely an acquired taste, but records that instruct you to "spread your wings and fly" or seek religious solace by "reaching up' can find the nearest motorway bridge and do one. Joe Claussells love of soul is clearly infectious, but that doesn't stop him conjuring vile images of fearless estate agents in neat polished loafers doing the chicken dance to irrating records like FRANK ROGER BELIEVE IN ME ... Blaze offering meanwhile just sounds like a soppy street-corner evangelist."

Well there you go, nice one. Given that most of the artists hail from a gospel background, it's no surprise really is it. I'm sure Ben likes the more hard house or maybe even likes to slap his bitch up ...

The King is dead ... long live the King

So, I said I wouldn't mention it as I danced round the Mooneys living room having watched Browne and Bradshaw put on just over 70 runs to win the ICC Trophy. But after a stupid text from King of the Numpties Kevin Everest I thought I would rub it in. Yes, yes ... I realise that West Indian cricket is down in the doldruns, there isn't a player in the current team that would have got into the Squad in the late 70's, 80's and early 90's. But in reality they have just won the World Cup euqivalent beating England in their own backyard. So for the record Kev, you wouldn't know the first thing about the three W's ... so go back to the Little England community you live in and revel in your canal view.

Respect to Mr Cooksley who pointed out that Engalnd do actually win the Darts each year, apart from when that Dutch bloke, and the Canadian win it.

Well that was a weird weekend. As mentioned I was expecting visitors. Part of the Carlisle Dolly squad. However things didn't go to plan and I think I ruined a good friendship. But I'm not going to sing about that on here ... people who know ... KNOW, it's all about respect.

So here's a question. Do people believe in love at first sight, well maybe not love but a bit more than lust, some deep seated feeling. Ok, maybe not at first sight, but what about having weird feelings for someone that you haven't seen for about 5 months and have only just started speaking to again? I ask, because a friend asked me ... and I didn't know. It did make me think though.

It's football tonight. We are at home to Blackburn and their new manager Mr Hughes (no not that fat 80's wrestler in the Blues Brother costume) the current Welsh manager Mr Hughes, you remember the bloke who when playing for Everton got Carl Tiler sent off. Anyway we are unbeaten at home and Blackburn haven't got an away point since April. There she blows eh!!!! There she blows!!! There was a good article in the Independent on Sunday yesterday about Danny Murphy. He seems to talk sense, even though I suppose some of the stuff shouldn't be said in these PC times. PC times my arse!!! I've never known what that means, so if OUR Danny wants to play for an English Manager why shouldn't he say so. Any way on another issue, we are still missing Paulo ... he was an entertainer.

Oh ... here's one for the purests. Luton, yes that Luton has been voted the worst place to live in Britain. It was nominated for it's ugly architecture and lack of anything to do. Other rivals included Windsor, Sunderland and wait for it ... London. Not that there London. London or Luton ... you take your pick. Also before I forget there was an article written in the Evening Sub-Standard on friday about the great North-South divide. Yep, the North-South London divide. Some muppet was banging on about all the good things in London are North of the river. Yep, yep .. yadda, yadda. He was saying how the only thing to venture South for was the Tate Modern and thats only just South London. But he then went on to say how he was born in Birmingham, lived in some other place. Well sonny, why don't you just do one. These out of towners who come into our great city upsetting the applecart. Just get the first plane to Sweden muppet.

Little boy lost ...

Well it's started. All the vague threats from the Nigels on the Netaddicks board. They are going to be up for this one!!! Well how come it's taken them 20 years to get up for it. Oh ... it all stems from the last time we visited Sellout Park and Old Mother Hubbard was on the pitch. Paul Kitson what a goal.

Have you ever had one of those evenings? I was on the phone for about three hours. You know catching up and stuff. I don't think I've ever spoken so much. Yeah, ok ... of course I have.

Well it's another football free weekend. We play Blackburn again on Monday. It's got to be better than the Soton game, surely?? So I can do the old Portabello thingy, like I need some new clothes.

It seems Dulwich Hamlet have been bad mouthing CIFC. A match originally organised for aturday had to be called off over an admin error. And they started bitching. It even got a mention on Inspector Sands site, I might even come out of retirement for this game. I think I can just about still run.

I'm sitting here as the Boss bounced up and down on his new toy. A £900 Stumpjumper bike. A kid in a sweetie shop, I am saying nothing ... he might be reading this.

The sun is shinning. Why does it shine now when it should have shined back in July. It means I can still wear my shades, and yes I do. Even on the tube. I got some stares today, maybe I don't help myself too much but hey.

I've just been reading the paper about this Ken Bigley thing. There's not much one can say is there. But if you get offered a job in Iraq for loads of dosh wouldn't you think hmmmm ... there's a possibility of being kidnapped. Maybe a little more so than working in High Wycombe.

Maybe it's just me ...

Oh my new Adidas Melbourne trainers arrived yesterday. Absolute quality ...

First things first ...

TOP TIPS” FOR URBANITE WOMEN – FROM URBANITE MEN

TIP 1 – Lose the obsession with “toilet-seat-down”!“Moaning about men leaving the toilet seat up! Would they rather we left it down and pissed all over it? Do they not look to see if the seat is down before sitting on it? I know I do if I'm going for a number 2! Get over it ladies!”
“The obsession with blokes having to put the toilet seat down AFTER they go to the loo. Do we make them lift it up after they've been??”

TIP 2 - Don’t take hours to get ready“Taking HOURS to get ready in the morning or on a night out... then asking "Come on, aren't you ready?" Of course I'm not ready! I've been waiting for the bathroom to come free for the past three hours!”

What's it all about Alfie ... ???

Oh and did you notice the West Indies got to the final of the ICC Championship. They take on Hing-er-lan and it's going to be a right old tussle. No I don't think so either, but hey after the way they've played this summer (Did we have a summer ..?) beggars and choosers et al.

You know what, I'm actually in a good mood. Blimey wonders will never cease ...!!!

Wonders never cease ...

They only did it. They only went and won a Cup game ... and didn't concede a goal. Two nil at Grimsby, I can't really believe it. Putting aside the fact that they were terrible, were outplayed for 80 minutes, only had two shots, defended too deep, etc ... etc it's a cracking result.

Wemberleeeee, wembereleee ....

Aren't picture messages great!!!! I got one this morning that made me smile.

Back at CIFC central, old Kev sent an email this morning.

"over the weekend i had a discussion with jeff and barnie about how i find tony blair's current stance towards the terrorists in iraq quite hypocrytical when you think how he gave in to the IRA."

I thought Bern and Jiff had gone to Sweden to drink beer and shag women ... ??? Maybe a bit of debating on the side is good!!!

Down to earth with a bump ...

Why is it that after a great weekend you always feel so ... ya get me !!!!

I got home last night to a whole heep of washing up, clothes washing, ironing ... yadda, yadda. I live the life. I was even contemplating a trip to Grimsby to see the might Addicks, but who wants to go to Grimsby on a cold wet tuesday evening. Actually I lie, it's was only the fact that I'm desperately needed at work otherwise I would be in the car with Mr Portch. Goodbye Horse indeed ...

So Brian Clough has passed away. A great manager, but he never really effected me in any way ... I don't really gloat on all these football figures etc, etc ... but I do remember singing "Brian Clough is a homosexual" at the City Ground on a few occassions, don't ask me.

I should be calling this page "The King of Swing" after the golfing heroics over the last few days. But I'm sure what with my reputation a few people will get the wrong idea ... hey Kev ... ??

I was on the train this morning standing opposite a woman reading a book. Blimey I hear you all cry. Yes, yes ... it was a book. The title of the book. Well here goes ...

The Stronger Women Get, the More Men Love Football: Sexism and the Culture of Sport .

I had a look on Amazon. Blimey what a read. The Synops, a critique of sexism in contemporary sport in which the author shows how it affects women and men outside the playing arena, examining how women are excluded from participating in sport on equal terms with men, and how all-male sporting environments foster misogyny and sexual violence.

And there's me thinking that people shouldn't read Harry Potter. Participating in sport on equal terms. What!!! Foster misogyny and sexual violence ... jesus!!! Have I missed something here? So the fact that I contemplated going to Grimsby would have turned me into Gazza, or even Mike Tyson. That's one for the lads to discuss ...

Right, it's nearly time for my Fabulous Abs and Bums class at the gym ...

This is da damn pic that only took 4 days to send by email ...

Right, this is the only pic of me at the Oyster Festival, in a suit. It was taken with Scott before it all got a bit messy. Look no tie, look no tie ...

Now how big is this place ... ??? Where's Wendals bowler hat ... there's a money reward you know ...

It's the way I tell em ... Scottish Scott with English Wendal and the Ginger one over his shoulder ...

Oysters on the table up in Durham ... Can one man eat 25 in a sitting ... OH HELL YEAH!!!!

So there goes another weekend. And should I say what a weekend. Starting at 8 am on friday morning on that train to Durham and finishing this morning when I touched down at Stanstead at some ungodly hour. I've treked around most of the North of England and luckily went no where near Birmingham. Go on Luke use the force.

Well the First Annual (???) Oyster Festival what a doo. The highlight being 3 off us downing 24 shots of flavoured voddy in a bar in Newcastle. Oh my head. The food was tops, the company even better, including the Ginger one who even managed to get himself in a bit of bother with the local crimelords ... what a muppet.

The drive over to Blackpool was interesting. If you call driving across the pennines at 40 miles an hour interesting. I wanted to take some photos of the scenery, but what's the point. It's grass.

Well I arrived in Fleetwood, just outside Blackpool in time for kickoff. I laid my head down and was woken by Timbo coming i saying Charlton were one nil up. Whoooosh was the cry of the day.

Right I thought I'll get onto the web page and listen to the commentary. Fifteen minutes later after I had defragged his machine and uploaded realplayer I got it working. Yep, you guessed it. Within 2 minutes, Brumm had equalised. I turned it off and went back to the settee. I suppose I should be happy with a 1-1.

Well the evening was a take on Phoenix Nights. A 30TH birthday doo in the local Rugby Club. I was wearing my best tux and matching feathers, I don't help myself do I.

Well I'm still struggling. I think those Oysters have just taken their toll, and the Curry last night didn't help.

My tune of the day: My luv - Michael Watford

E-mailing pics ...

Right then. I did intend to leave on Thursday with a great pic of my new tee-shirt but Orange World aren't emailing from my phone.

I may get the pic through one of these days ...

Thursday, September 16, 2004

There's always something ... now the comments ting don't work ...

It's a new day ...

Well I've just been told that tomorrows Oyster Festival is a shirt and tie experience.

Fancy that eh !!!! A shirt and a tie. I don't even wear that for work ... Oh well needs must.

Will it be the red number or maybe a smidgen of pastel shades. A sports jacket or forma suit??

Choices, choices ... choices.

I had a nice evening last night. Just me and UManU.

Ya get me ...

On a slightly nervous note, why did I have a curry yesterday? What with this Oyster thingamy tomorrow ... I'm a bit worried. A constitution of steel, thats me.

The sun is shinning, everything seems okay ... blimey I'm in a good mood.

I've just taken a pic of the new tee-shirt I bought on ebay. I wore it to work today ... you have to laugh ...

Yawn, yawn ... yawn

And there was me thinking that Charlton/ Southampton was boring. Do people actually think that Arse-nal will will the champions league? Yeah right. They huffed and they puffed and if anything PSV showed how best to play against them, but I'll leave that to Mr Curbishley to work out.

It was a strange day yesterday. Quiet in the office, no problems with the trains, although saying that they were a bit squew wiff at Cannon Street on the way home, so nothing must to moan about. Apart from the football that is.

So it seems that everyone's caught onto the wonders of ebay. I had an email this morning saying how AC from up the road had just won a pair of heated rollers. Heated rollers, my life is now complete.

Talking of ebay there was a bit of controversy on the Norman Jay website the other day. During the Notting Hill Carnival Norm and the Good Times crew had been giving out free 40th anniversary CD's. Only for promotional use I add. However it seems that some unscrupulous dudes had put some on ebay. Now word spread and people started emailing and texting Norm with this news. We then had a posting on his site where he said that people shouldn't bid, it was a free CD and people could get them by sending a stamped addressed envelope etc, etc. Well now it gets interesting. A day later there was another posting on the site apologizing for miss information. The stuff advertised on ebay, had been donated by Norman for a charity and was to raise money. There were a few of the CD's signed, some tee-shirts and stuff. Oh how I laughed. So have the ebay police got nothing else to do than sing to Norm about how people are using his name to make a fast buck. It's all a bit strange really.

It's true but I may have some of the Carlisle Dolly Posse staying at mine in a few weeks ... jeeeeez.

Well I'm back from the gym ... and in reality I'm still pished off. I just read the report of Paulo's debut for Lazio on Sunday and just had to smile. He was fighting with his own players, with the opposition fans until the maneger had to take him off after 50 minutes.

It's called passion ... and if you'd seen the toilet last night you would understand.

One Bobby Robson ...

Came the cry from the back of the North Upper last night.

Blobby Robson, I ask you !!!!

I would say that last nights match was maybe the worst game of football that I have seen for many a year. It wasn't just Charlton, who were abysmal but Southampton didn't help matters. The point being that the likes of Stuart Balmer, Carl Leaburn were paid peanuts in comparrison to todays pretenders. But why the likes of Dandy Murphy are paid so much is beyond me. Pass, they couldn't pass wind.

Three weeks I had been looking forward to that. Three weeks!!! What's the point .... ???

I couldn't work out why after 12 years we had decided to roll the ball out from the goalkeeper to the defence. Yea it must be because we have the diddy men playing up front. Get Dino to roll the ball out and then let someone in the back four lump the ball up instead. Tactics ... quality. Is that what Melvyn does for the team? Anyway we are above UManU so it can't be that bad.

On another note, what's the point of JJ?? What has heppened to him .... ??? Can't we send him to Norwich??? No they wouldn't want him ... would they ???

I'm still smarting ... so I'm going to the gym to call down ...

My tune of the day: Complete silence

It's Monday ...

It's raining, the trains are all running late and there's no coffee in the office.

Don't you just love it ... ?

Another football free weekend was spent with me wasting my saturday playing cricket. We lost by 9 wickets ... played like, well played like Barclays Bankers actually, and that's my season over. It's the Oyster festival next weekend, and then it's a Carlisle vs London weekend down in the smoke. Happy days ...

We are playing Southampton tonight, so the odds are on a refereeing decision to take centre billing. Well it seemed that way over the weekend, so why should it change with a match live on Sky. Having ref'd a few matches in my time my sympathies were with Mark Halsey. But knowing what sort of referee he is made me choke slightly. I remember him giving the Arse a penalty when we were 4-1 up at Highbury. Henry dived over Fishes leg and got the decision. It was Highbury so the odds were on it being given but on playback it was never a pen. Anyway, I digress, if a ref makes a wrong call it is good that he can consult his linesman (yes it's a bleedin linesman) and then change his decission. It was never a penalty anyway. As for the disallowed goal, John had both hand on Toures back and pushed as he headed. Er, that's a foul ... I have given a penalty when the rolls were reversed in the past, only for the complaining defender to tell me after the match that I had made the correct call. Don't you just love footballers. Anyway, it will be strange tonight, I haven't seen a match in weeks and you can guarantee that the Charlton players will act as if they have never seena ball in their careers. We've been here before ... so don't tell me I'm too pessimistic.

The sun is shining now, so the sweat shirt I put on today was the wrong call. Typical ...

I went to a christining/ 40th birthday party yesterday. It was quite an affair over in Wanstead, in a big marquee with shed loads of food. Poor old Horace was on a new wheat free diet so couldnt have the roti or macaroini cheese his favourites. He had to make do with salmon and salad. Poor boy. Typically Glen lost his car keys so didnt turn up til just before 8. Given that I had been there since 1, he and Rod missed out.

Arrivals today ...

Zim, zimmer ...

There's been a debate in the Metro this week about Cyclists and Motorists. One day it ws all about cycling on pavements, going the wrong way down one way streets, then there was the come back about speeding, jumping lights ... blah, blah ... blah. Not very interesting until you read a letter in todays Metro. From a guy who has been permanently disabled after a cyclist hit him after jumping a red light. No redress, and lucky to get the guy as he was about to get on his toes if it wasn't for other pedestrians. Well isn't that the problem. Anyone can get a bike and ride it on the road. No records, no insurance ... I don't really understand it. So if a cyclist hits a pedestrian and causes injury you have to lump it? Seems like it ...

It's friday and I think it must be dress down day. There were a few people on my train this morning in chinos. Usually suited and booted they had on an assortment of banana republic and gap, pleated casual strides. Now, if I ever buy and wear a pair of chinos may you all throw eggs at me in the street. Why, you should all castigate me on the pitch at the Valley live on Sky. Chinos, what's the point in them. They are so unflattering, so ... so ... Man at C&A. I'm sure I've Kev in a pair though???

Reports coming in say that Speed dating actually works. Experts say love may not happen at first sight but first impressions and all that. Experts my arse. Three minutes to impress a sad lonely old woman who can't hold a conversation for an hour, who talks about her cats and or what her last boyfriend was like. It's commical really, but I may try to ask Bern if they work ... !!!

So another weekend free from footie. We play on Monday night. I'm actually getting the shakes ... NO MAYBE NOT.

I think I have to visit the Valley on saturday to get my Arsenal tickets. It's only £33 ... and we get to see Thierry Henry run riot for 90 minutes ... oh joy.

My tune of the day: Estacao Verao - Sabrina Malheiros

All quiet on the western front ...

Well still no football to write home about. No transfer speculation, the windows shut ... and all we get to talk about is how the England players have thrown their toys out of the pram.

"We don't want to talk to the press!!!"

"All they do is have a go at us, so we are all sticking together ..."

Yep, the old siege mentality kicks in again, the same as when Rio got banned. Do they never learn?

So the Sun have gone over the top with the David James v the Donkey. But it's the Sun, they've been doing it for years, remember Hillsborough. Beckham and the likes actually court publicity, so whats the problem ... unless you're Gary Neville that is!!!

There's another 9/11 Conspiracy programme on tonight. I just get the feeling that we've gone full circle and the sympathy is slowly ebing away. Having sat drinking under Canary Wharf a few days ago, I can only imagine what the site and sounds of 9/11 were like.

So Ryanair are giving away over 3 million flights. Strange that the old airport taxes seem to have gone up. But a return to Blackpool for £25 can't be bad ... dependant on where your looking really.

The cricket season is slowly coming to an end, well my season is. It's the last game on Saturday and we only have 6 players. No captain, no people to do the teas ... I might have to get the bread knife out myself. It's all about organisation boys ... we need to get it sorted. Hear me now ...

A letter in the Metro is stating how much holiday teachers get. In fact it states they get better holidays than the rest of us. Now when I think of the grief that my Mum had to put up with as a teacher. Ill mannered children, ungrateful parents, holidays yeah right ... you have to plan for the school year, so those fabled 6 weeks are in reality a couple of days. Then if you want to go away, it's er ... in the school holidays, so everything is so much more expensive. All on a minimum wage ...

Oh, and before I forget ... Mr Wawning was back on the train this morning. Put ya hand up ...

Blogger ...

This blogging thing pishes me right off. It's taken me until 9:45 in the evening to get the bleedin thing to post. I s'pose you can't moan at things you get for free.

Oh an England won and Robbie Savage got sent off. It's a cruel world ...

Left leg in ... left leg out ...

So does anyone actually care about the Mercury Music awards? Are you bothered that Franz Ferdinad piped the Zutons, Amy Winehouse and Jamelia? No ... a bit like me then. It's not my scene, not even when Dizzy Rascal walked away with it. For me it's still about the hands in the air ... give me Arnold Jarvis any time.

So we'll all be glued to the box tonight to see the next instalment of Sven and friends. Will James do his best pudding impression again, will Becks stroll around like a super furry ego, and how long will it take Smudger to kick someone. Well it is football and it is on the box. I wonder who Vince wants to win??

Talking of football I went to see little Teddy Mooney play in the under 7's Junior reds last night. It was all a bit strange really, watching loads of 6/7 year olds all run after the ball as everyone looked on. It was a bit like watching Charlton at times.

What's all this about that JoJo girl. Thirteen and singing songs about cheating lovers. Maybe I missed something here. No girl of mine etc, etc ...

Toe tapping, foot stomping ...

Is it me or do other people find it ever so irritating?

You know, people who get off trains, planes or automobiles still reading their paper or book. Then meander down the platform heading straight for me. Oh right, maybe it's only me.

Well it's been weeks since the mighty Addicks kicked a ball in anger, and it seems like weeks until the next game. In fact it's next Monday that they play next. At home to Southampton with Sir Clyde sitting in the stand. Johnny Wilkinson will be turning in his grave!!!!

I always like to read Casino Avenue, http://www.casino-avenue.co.uk/ Inspector Sands thoughts on South London, the World and Pop Culture. But I was somewhat taken aback at his thoughts on cleanliness in this last blog. He was going on about his cleaning habits and comparing them to a nice couple he drinks with at his local. First things first, single men and cohabiting men are two different beasts. It doesn't matter how clean you think you are, or how often you put the hoover round, as soon as you become a couple things change. The fact that you get home from work and throw your jacket on the chair isn't going to happen when the Misses gets home. It's fact. You may have the tidyest kitchen off all your single friends but how often do you put that baby oil on the stainless steel splashback? You know that she would do it every week ... it's just the way things are. So if I may, Inspector Sands live with it. Enjoy your freedom from becoming a weekly Mrs Mopp, because one of these days ...

Here's a question for thee. How often should one get their eyes tested. I think I last went about three years ago. I was thinking about it this morning as I gazed out of the 07:52 from Hither Green. I may have to ring D&A ...

Oh Charlton ressies are playing Palarse tonight. Surely it's a chance for Graham Stuart to force his way back in the reconing. No ... thought not.

Anyway it's breakfast time and I think I need a lightly toasted cheese biegel. I know how to live!!!

From frying pan to fire ...

So the whole of Englands failings as a football nation are down to David James? The Clown Prince of goalkeepers, who famously played 10 hours of playstation before a big game. This is the same David James who has about 100 kids, was a model and vwas in the papers for a fling with an ex schoolfriend. Excuse me if I spit ...

It's only a game ...

I'm feeling a bit fragile today after a long day at cricket yesterday. We were down in Limpsfield, yes ... I know, against Cooksley and his Beechwood lot. A interesting game played in nice hot conditions. We kept them down to 143 and reached the target for 4 wickets. Given that I went in at number 6 it's with great pleasure to inform everyone that I hit the winning runs. Oh my, I've still got it.

Well we are up and running in September. Is summer over ? Are the nights drawing in ? What do I want for Christmas ?

Now here's something for you. I'm reading the Metro on the way to work. The letters page is always a blast. Right, they are talking about bargains, and how people have been conned. There's a bloke writing about how he bought a camcorder, camera, mobile phone for £250 from a market stall in Hackney Wick only to get them home and find the bag was full of milk. Hang on ...

Has anyone here ever bought an expensive piece of kit from a market stall? A PC, or an ipod ... ??? You just wouln't would you ?? Maybe it's just me ...

And another thing ...

We had a bomb scare in Hither Green Lane of Saturday. The first I knew was when I turned the car into the Lane at about 11:30 only to be met by a Policeman on horseback. I parked up and started to cross the road to get in my flat.

"Oi, where are you going ...?" said the horseman ...

"To my flat there ..." was my reply

"Not at the moment you ain't" he came back at me.

So there I was a bagfull of groceries, ones for the freezer in one hand and my binoculars in the other. Only joking there. There was a suspect package in the Post Office. How can they tell what is a suspect package? Why would anyone want to bomb the Hither Green sub post office? Anyway the bomb squad turned up and found it was a mobile phone.

Thanks anyway ... that's £25 quid of meals for one ruined.

Big up rude bwoy ...

Look at the size of those ...

Well another pic was sent, so I'm passing it on. I really should drink more water ... Not good.

Well I didn't get to the City Addicks meeting yesterday. I was still a tad tired, and couldn't face any more pop. Saying that I've just had a breakfast of some fois gras and chateau de fesles bonnezeaux 99. I know how to live. Of course those meetings are all very cloak and dagger, so I don't expect to hear what went on, so I am a bit gutted I didn't go ...

Roll on the weekend. It's my last game of cricket this summer on Sunday so I'm looking to get in the runs. It's been a bit disappointing this year, but hey as we say when the FA Cup comes round, there's always next year.

I may be back later on ... I need a rest and a cup of tea !!!!

Right I'm back after a nice refreshing spin class. Yeah right. Old Batnie has said that I'm a sensative soul ... that made me chuckle anyway. Sensative, I think he hit the nail right on the head.

I've just watched a bit of TV where the Russians stormed that school. Blimey, it's all a bit scary really, it's a weird world we live in, especially when all we have to moan about is the state of our football team.

The sun is still shinning ... infact he's got his bleedin hat on.

Anyway ... it is nice to get a few comments added to the page. If you want to say something feel free to let me know ... I don't bite !!!!!

The World as we know it ...

I just spend half an hour writing out my blog for the day and the bleedin thing didn't save.

Typical ...

I was moaning about Maxine Carrs boob job, Sir Clyde Woodward and his rugger bugger mates, the bottling of 50Cents at Reading, and loads of other things I can't remember.

I think I also mentioned the horse racing scandal and the fact that I haven't got any more Carnival pics.

I might also of mentioned the fact that there is a Charlton supporters meeting with Martin Simmons in the City tonight. But I just can't be bothered to go and listen to people moan ... that's got to be the one eh ... !!!!

Oh did you see that pic of that Chav bird who had Kelly Homes tattooed on her back. She would have been better off with Barratt Holmes eh ...

Have I told you that gold is the new brown which was the new black. So for this autumn I want to see you all blinging ...

About the Reading festival. What is it with yuff from Windsor thinking they are on the edge by wearing a SlipKnot tee-shirt? They should try living on the Charlton Heights and pretending you are in Greenwich ... that's cutting.

Oh and I remember. I said something about Andy D'Urso and his bann for not sending off Barry Ferguson for two yellow cards. I think I said something about human error, we are all human and stuff. But why not ban Ferguson, he knew he had been booked twice so should have left the field ... or just ban Graeme Souness, for a laugh.

Put ya hands up in da air ... now down in ya diiiiirty underwear ...

Right, a couple more pics of the carnival for you. It was good, especially when the sun shined. Oh and I'm still recovering. I laid my head down at about 9 o'clock last night. It didn't take long for me to be in Nod land.

And the rain came down ...

So the transfer window came and went ... and all we got was a load of nothing. There's Rooney showing his true blueness by buggering off to UManU, Palarse get a couple of loaneeee's from Inter Milan, hang on don't we have an agreement with them?? And WBA get a couple of peeps who we have never heard off. It could be worst though, we could have signed Robbie Mustoe and Jespar Blomquist.

Here's a question. Does anyone actually still go on that terrible Friends Re-united site. I can't work out why anyone wants to rekindle some old love after maybe a 20 year gap. Surely those lovely 15 year old girlfriends are now late 30's biffers. Oh, maybe it's just me ...

The boss has just come back off his holidays and won £500 on the lottery. I suppose you have toi be in it to win it.

Did you know there are only 115 shopping days to Christmas. I can't wait.
